I looked all over for a tab/chords of this song in standard tuning, but couldn't
find anything preferable,
so I decided to write one... This IS standard tuning so you don't have to worry
about killing your strings...

Chords: E Emaj7 E7 E4 A F#m G#m B C#m
  e ----0-----0-------0-----0-----0-----2-----4-----2-----4--|
  b ----0-----0-------0-----0-----2-----2-----4-----4-----5--|
  g ----1-----1-------1-----1-----2-----2-----4-----4-----6--|
  d ----2-----1-------0-----X-----2-----4-----6-----4-----6--|
  a ----2-----2-------2-----4-----0-----4-----6-----2-----4--|
  e ----0-----0-------0-----0-----0-----2-----4-----2-----4--|

* The first four chords are E chords starting with the E note (2nd fret)
sliding down to the C# note (4th fret) on the string below (A string),
one fret at a time. Make sure you dampen the D string so it doesn't
drown the C# out (cuz these are the low notes you hear distinctly
in the intro).
* I don't actually know the name of the 4th chord, so I just called it E4 for easy
placement over the lyrics...

Intro: E1 E2 E7 E4
Play the intro once through.

Vs. 1
                     E Emaj7 E7 E4(x2)
Scratching at the surface now, and I'm trying hard to work it out

Vs. 2
                    E Emaj7 E7 E4(x2)
So much has gone misunderstood, and this mystery only leads to doubt

Bridge:
                    F#m G#m A
And I didn't understand,
                                 B C#m
When you reached out to take my hand

                             F#m B
And if you have something to say, You better say it now...

Chorus:
E C#m (E)
Cuz this is what you've waited for
                    A E
Your chance to even up the score
                      B C#m A
And as these shadows fall on me now, I will somehow (Yeayeah)

E C#m (E)
Cuz I'm picking up a message Lord
                               A E
And I'm closer than I've ever been before

                             B
So if you have something to say
              A B
Say it to me now
              A B
Say it to me now
              A E
Say it to me now...

Outro:
Because there are no lyrics here, I'm just going to give you the tab.
e --x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--0--|
b --x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--0--|
g --11-/-13--/-11--/--9--/--8--/--9--|
d --x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--x--/--6--|
a --9--/-11--/--9--/--7--/--6--/--7--|
e --0--/--0--/--0--/--0--/--0--/--0--|

* Play the first 5 chords using your index finger to depress the A string and
dampen the strings below it.
Then pluck the first string of the last chord loudly, and strum the lower strings softly.

* the parenthetical E chords in the chorus aren't necessary, you CAN just strum
the C#m chord until the A chord,
but I usually use them because they sound better with the lyrics that accompany
them.

* I realize some of the chords I used in this tab are also used in other tabs,
but that's because the chords in those tabs are technically correct.
The problem with those tabs is that the chords were misplaced and/or there were
other parts of the song that were inaccurate.
