My dad always played it this way on his 12 string and to me it sounds the most like the
I would suggest NOT using a capo. It gives the sadder sound. This is my first post so

Chords: D, Am, C, G, D... repeat

The Full Lyrics (thanks to Brian Ross)
===============
D Am C G D
The legend lives on from the chippewa on down

D Am C G D
Of the big lake they called "Gitche Gumee"

D Am C G D
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead

D Am C G D
When the skies of November turn gloomy

D Am C G D
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more

D Am C G D
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty.

D Am C G D
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed

D Am C G D
When the "Gales of November" came early.
