Got this tab from a guitar magazine and it sounds great. And its easier to play this way 
than the basketcase version 1.

Usedown strokes thouugh out this part to create a sense of urgency. Bounce your
fretting hand om the strings, rather
than holding it tight into them for the palm muting.

alternte pick the semiquaver rythms, but use down strokes for the rest.Again use
your fretting hand for the palm mutting. Dont worry about hiting the top note of the 
top note on the E chords excatly as written, as these are probaly not intentional.

Alternate pick this part using a down stroke for every second chord hit
This plays through twice after the first chours but four times after the second
before the middle break.

Use downstrokes for this bit, again bouncing your fretting hand off the strings for
palm mutting.

Use alternate picking.Youll need your forth finger to reach the A in the second beat
in bar 2.
