Chords by: Eamonn Bolger

Directions:The verse chord progression (G,Em,C,A7) remains at a constant rhythm throughout.
The chords may not be exactly lined up with the words but the rhythm is quite easy. You should
hold each chord for the same time. I sounds like one bar each in 4/4 time. I've just put in
the chords on the first verse. It's exactly the same for the other two, except the last verse
is one line longer. I'm not sure of the proper names of the first three chords in the chorus, so
I'll call them 1, 2 and 3 in the chord chart and tab the fingering out below. It's pretty easy.
Listen the the recording if you need help with the length you should hold each chords. You can
play it with just a simple strumming style once you've got the rhythm.

VERSE:
G Em C A7
I know you are a woman, by the way you burn below.
G Em C A7
I'll tell you secrets so good, you'll never tell a soul.
G Em C A7
Come closer, that bonfire that holds his life like stones
G Em C A7
These years, my life unkno-----own.

Diamonds from the pavement where the broken glass has been.
Just like these troubles I'm leaving to the wind.
Like sapphires, in boxcars, speeding towards the end.
Like thieves, my bad luck grows.

CHORUS:
1 2 3 G
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear.
1 2 3 G
Crystalize illusion shine forgot I'm here
1 2 3 G
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear.
1 2 3 G
Oh, you left some stars in my belly.

VERSE:

Star crossed child's love, on the white of wedding gold.
Silver studs of promise hide in the red crushed velvet folds.
Inaction, intention, like emeralds I stole.
A speech of costume gold.
I think I ought to know.

CHORUS:

Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear.
Crystalize illusion shine forgot I'm here
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear.
Oh, you left some stars in my belly.
You left some stars in my belly.
You left some stars in my belly.

Chord Fingering: OK, here's the fingering for the 1,2 and 3 chords:

chord 1: chord 2: chord 3:

E ---x--- ---x--- ---x---
A ---3--- ---0--- ---0---
D ---2--- ---2--- ---0---
G ---0--- ---0--- ---2---
B ---3--- ---3--- ---3---
E ---0--- ---0--- ---0---

As you can see they are very similar and simple to change between. OK, that's it, happy playing!
