Nirvana obviously played this song using more than one guitar, but here's how 
to play it well and easily using only one guitar. 
The other tabs here don't sound right to me...

Play the whole thing with distortion.

If you listen to the song carefully, you will notice kurt relaxed the palm muting 
a bit towards the end of the riff, and continues to do it on every verse.
