Billy lies there on the couch, asleep, as Rita sleeps in his arms. He has no clue that it is eight o'clock Monday morning, until Liam wakes him up. Billy, don't you have school to get to?
Billy's eyes flash open, and he squirms off the couch, being careful not to wake Rita. Come on, I'll give you a ride. Liam offers as Billy gladly accepts.
Yeah, thanks Liam, I'll have to get my kit later.
Just leave it here for other practices, that way you don't have to lug it around much. Liam says as he and Billy get in his car. Liam turns the key and then backs out of the garage.
He drops Billy off at his school, where Rick is waiting at his locker. Billy!! Where were you last night? Dad was going ballistic!
I was hanging out at Liam's, me and Liam and a couple of other guys were jamming. I told Dad where I was going.
Well alright, Billy, but you're gonna have to answer to Dad still. Rick says as he walks off.
Billy heads to his second period class and sits down. Billy has few friends, He isn't really into sports or other school activities. He has to sit through Biology, English, and a couple of other classes, while waiting for lunch.
The bell rings at the end of his sophomore English class and he heads down to the lunchroom. He grabs a tray, gets lunch, and sits down at an empty table. He eats lunch silently until Alan sits down.
Hey Billy! Alan exclaims as he sits down.
I didn't know that you go to this school, Alan. Billy says, a little bit surprised to see him.
Yeah, I just moved here from down in Green Bay and I don't know much of anyone else here. The pale skinned, dark haired bassist explains. Alan is a shy, 5'6" social outcast, He can, of course, play bass like nobody else.
So when did you leave Liam's, Billy? Cause you were still laying on the couch at 6 p.m. when I left. Alan asks curiously.
Uh... hehe... this morning? Billy says, gaining a shy grin. I guess I just fell asleep.
Well, you looked pretty comfy there with Rita. Thinkin' about asking her out? Alan says somewhat teasingly.
Nah. I mean, she's kind of going through something with her ex.
So, she's on the rebound?
No. Well, I guess. But, I mean, she's Liam's cousin...
So? Alan cuts Billy off. It's not as if she's his sister. He says, looking down at his cell phone on the table, as it vibrates. He picks it up. Hello?
Oh, hey Liam. What's going on?
Alright, I'm down for tonight.
Yeah, I'll tell him.
Alright. See you later, then.
Alan turns to Billy as he hangs up. That was Liam, he wants to have a practice tonight.
Man! I still have to talk to my dad. He's already pissed.
Well, last night would have been more productive if our drummer hadn't fallen asleep on the couch.
Alright, dude. I'll be there. Billy says as the bell rings. He gets up and heads to class.
He suffers through Algebra, not being able to focus on anything but what he is going to say to his dad. Billy suffers through the rest of the day, and catches a ride home with Rick.
You want me to drive around for a little bit? So you can figure out how to get out of it? Rick asks Billy.
No. I have to face Dad sooner or later. Might as well be now. Billy says. He knows that it's going to get worse the longer he waits.
Rick pulls into the driveway of their house. Their father is a strong, 6'7" man. He comes out of the house and immediately starts yelling at Billy.
Where were you last night?! I was worried sick about you! March inside and to your room now! You're grounded for a month! Their father yells, overreacting.
Billy heads inside glumly. Rick and his father follow. Billy heads to his room, about to pick up his sticks he hears his father yell.
And don't even think about making a racket with those drums of yours!
This makes Billy snap. He gets angry, and starts packing up some of his drums and clothes. He grabs the phone and dials Liam's number.
Hey Liam, I need a ride. Can you come pick me up? Liam agrees and Billy hangs up, he grabs a few drums and storms out of the house to Liam's car.
