Sorry it's a short chapter guys. Kind of trying to keep them a little shorter to keep the suspense going. Enjoy!
Chad turned to see Hannah and took a step back.
"Oh! Hey Hannah. How's it going?"
"I'm alright." She laughed. "What's wrong? Did I scare you?"
Chad turned away and turned a little red. "N--No way! Just..um...what're you doing here?"
Hannah laughed again. "So I DID scare you. Well, I was on my way home, and saw you walk in here from about a block down. Thought I'd see how your first day went."
"Oh, I see. It went pretty good."
"That's good to hear. Hm...It's pretty empty in here. Want to just sit down and talk?"
The first day Chad met Emma. It rushed through his head. He felt his eye get a little watery, but then shook his head, rubbed his eyes, and replied.
"Sure, I have the time."
Chad's food came shortly after so he took it and then walked to a table near a window. They sat on opposite sides.
"So what do you think of the school so far?" Hannah asked.
"It's big," Chad replied.
"Such a detailed answer," she laughed.
"Um...Sorry..." He replied. He put both his hands on the table and began to look down and tap his hands.
Hannah put his hands on top of Chad's. "You don't have to apologize," She said gently.
Thoughts of Emma flashed in Chad's head. He pulled his hands away. "Uhm...sorry about that. Reflex I guess?"
Hannah laughed. "No worries, it's no big deal." She smiled at him.
"So how long have you lived here?"
"All my life. But it's so boring. Classes are easy, people that live here are too easy-going." She looked out the window and up at the sky. "I guess I always wanted something more. But I never really told my parents or my friends that. They'd think lowly of me."
"I don't think so. What you want is what you think is good for you. Why would they think lowly of you if you want to obtain something you really think is best?"
"I guess you have a point. But I dunno. I still haven't figured out what I'm doing after high school."
Chad was startled by that statement. He wasn't shocked by the fact that Hannah didn't have a plan, but by the fact that he himself lacked one.
"Me neither," He replied. "Back in New York, there was so much going on, never took the time to think that through."
"New York? Tell me, what did you do I New York that kept you so busy? And why'd you leave?"
He looked away. "I don't like talking about it."
Hannah stared at him. "Not talking about things isn't good. You keep it bottled up, and all the bad things will stay in your head and haunt you."
That made sense to Chad. His memories of Emma kept hitting him. He opened up his mouth to speak, but then the door to Seemsters busted open and a tall, bulky boy barged up to Chad. He lifted Chad by his collar.
