Wednesday Question: Best B-Sides & Rarities Album

For this week's traditional Wednesday Question, we'd like to kindly ask you folks to focus on the hidden gems of the musical world and answer this thing right here:

What is the greatest B-sides and rarities album ever?

So albums and EPs only, NOT the individual songs. Also, official releases only, no bootlegs. Apart from that, the standard rules apply.

  • Post only one suggestion per comment after checking that your favorite wasn't already nominated (Ctrl+F and all).
  • Multiple nominations of one album create heavy confusion, since on one hand it's unfair to the given record to take into consideration only the most upvoted nomination, but seeing that multiple nominations allow one user to give two or more votes to the same effort, it's also unfair to other nominees not to discard it.
  • Vote up the ideas you support and vote down the ones you dislike
We'll sum up your votes by Friday and bring you another traditional UG top list. Show us what you got now!

Nirvana - Incesticide You know, actually it's not a studio album, but a compilation of B-sides and rarities.
Also I think it worth to be mentioned too - another great compilation (3CDs!) which have hidden gems that worth attention not only by the band's fans: Nirvana - With the Lights Out
Deftones - B-Sides & Rarities It's just full of hidden gems
was gonna put this up there too, and saw it was one of the first albums suggested, that right there says a lot about it. deftones do some awesome covers on it even a skynard cover which i am not a big fan of but loved this version and a lot of just must have stuff for any deftones fan
Muse - B-sides and Rarities. Alt versions, B-sides, remixes, even the mixing of two songs together: Hyper Chondriac Music
Unfortunately, rocklee1431 is right - it's not an official release but a bootleg made by Russian fans. So our rules were: "Also, official releases only, no bootlegs."
I'm 99% sure that wasn't an album, just a collection put together for people to freely download.
Not sure if this counts, but... Metallica-Garage, Inc.
Unfortunately it doesn't count - most of the songs on "Garage Inc." were specially recorded for this release, only the second half of the 2nd CD are actual B-sides. So it's more like a covers album.
Steal This Album was a fantastic love-child of Self Titled and Toxicity. Still holds up as my favorite from System of a Down.
Isn't this just a normal studio album and not a b-sides one?
Yeah, it's kind of murky. It's Toxicity b-sides that they went back and fully recorded. But I figured I'd throw it in for good measure anyways and let the community decide.
    Devin Townsend - Holding Patterns
It is a great compilation of demos and gets my upvote, but I do prefer an earlier DTP disk of this sort, so I nominate: Devin Townsend Project - Epiclouder P.S. In case someone does not know, "Holding Patterns" is the printed name of the "Transcendence" bonus disc.
    Gorillaz - G-Sides
    What about D sides? lol
I was about to post D-Sides, I'm enjoying it to be honest. But my criteria of "B-Sides" is usually Live version or remixes version that sometime could get a different vibe and sound.
D-sides is dope. 68 state, hong kong (one of my favourite gorillaz songs), bill murray, and spitting out the demons are awesome. G-sides has my favourite version of 19-2000, a sick remix of clint eastwood, the sounder, ghost train, hip albatross. Both are good options
"D-Sides" are great too, but I personally think that the "G-Side" is stronger
Is G-sides the one with the remix that has Asian lyrics?
it does happen to have a song with asian lyrics at the end, it's just not a remix. it was a fair question
The Smashing Pumpkins - Pisces Iscariot Contains some of their best work, namely Starla and Landslide.
Pink Floyd - The Early Years 1965-1972. The giant box set they released in November. Technically not an "album", I know, but how else are you going to get "official" rarities from the Floyd besides Relics or the Immersion boxes?
Morphine - B-Sides and Otherwise I know this band isn't popular here but I still think they deserve to be mentioned on UG.
Biffy Clyro - Similarities. Any of their b-side albums would work though, their 'leftovers' are as good or better than most bands' a-sides.
    Joy Division - Still Actually it's a b-sides compilation
    Failure - Golden
Yes, love Failure! Shrine, Pennies, and Petting the Carpet are my favorites from that album. Also, Disc 2 from Essentials is pretty cool too.
Skinny Puppy – B-Sides Collect Not sure if someone on UG knows this band, but this is a very good compilation of their old industrial works
