Wednesday Question: Best Songs to Listen to on a Rainy Day

Name the finest tune to listen to on a gloomy day...

Ultimate Guitar

For this week's traditional Wednesday Question, we'd like to kindly ask you folks to focus on tunes perfect for a gloomy day and answer this:

What's the best song to listen to on a rainy day?

THE RULES - post only one suggestion per comment after checking that your favorite wasn't already nominated (Ctrl+F and all).

Multiple nominations of one song create heavy confusion, since on one hand it's unfair to the given track to take into consideration only the most upvoted nomination, but seeing that multiple nominations allow one user to give two or more votes to the same tune, it's also unfair to other nominees not to discard it.

Finally, vote up the ideas you support and vote down the ones you dislike. We'll sum up your votes by Friday and bring you another classic UG top list. Show us what you got now!

Nirvana - Something in the way
Why is this being downvoted? Rainy days were made for "Something In The Way".
Probably because its not by Pink Floyd, Radiohead or Alice in Chains
Or because it doesn't feature the words "rain" or "water". I think they're just trying to make a list of puns and not actually a list of songs that are good for a rainy day.
Or Steven Wilson/Porcupine tree - At the top of the thread there's already four different nominations of him/them.
    Opeth - Windowpane
Came here to nominate "Windowpane". "Damnation" is my favourite soundtrack to rainy days.
Opeth - Blackwater Park has always been a rainy day favorite of mine.
    Bedside Shred
The song or the album? If I had to pick one Opeth song for a rainy day (tough because there are so many) I'd probably go with Eternal Rains Will Come.
I believe this song or album is about the death of the bands guitar teacher/story teller. Although i can't remember where this information came from. Folk black metal at its finest though. Uaral - sounds of pain I'm english i know how to soundtrack a rainy day.
The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
No Quarter - Led Zeppelin Not sure why, but this song fits rainy days for me more than the Rain Song.
Love the rain song! I always enjoy this on lazy rainy day
Damn I should have put "Love the rain song!" at the start of my comment and I wouldn't have gotten downvotes xD
    Mika - Rain
    Trains by Porcupine Tree.
Came here to post this. Upvoted instead
It was the first thing that came to my mind when I read rainy day song so I was kind of quick to post it Btw, I don't know why, the song has nothing to do with rain...
Nine Inch Nails, The Day The World Went Away (still version)... how does Trent Reznor write such beautiful songs!!! Just listen to the whole Still album.
The Jar of Flies EP. The whole thing is a perfect rainy day disc.

    Paranoid Android - Radiohead
    How To Disappear Completely
There's a reason the band themselves considers this one of the best things they ever recorded
As we speak about Radiohead, I would like to nominate: Thom Yorke - "And It Rained All Night" Just perfect for rainy day.
I'd go with Exit Music, but fine
"Rain down, rain down Come on rain down on me" Is what drove me to choose this Radiohead song. Since 75% of their stuff is great rainy day music.
    Pantera - Floods
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme I know it's not a song, but I can always drop the needle on this one when it's gloomy outside. Fits perfectly.
    Honey Badger
Jimi Hendrix - Rainy Day, Dream Away There's no video on YouTube, but the follow-up Still Rainin', Still Dreamin' is just as good.
Tom Waits-Rain Dogs(the title track) or any song on that album, really.
    10,000 Days (Wings Part 2) - Tool
I once listened this during a thunderstorm, after a while I couldn't tell anymore which thunders/rain noises were real and which in the song. And if you add the tune itself...Surreal experience
    Old Heart Falls by Katatonia.
Doesn't really matter which Katatonia song to me. For a rainy day I'd probably pick the 'Dethroned & Uncrowned' album though. I think the acoustic songs are slightly better for rainy days. I'm imagining more like a cabin in the woods while it's raining, not just sitting inside in the heart of the city. Really during autumn in general I have Katatonia, Insomnium, Swallow the Sun and Dark tranquillity pretty much on non-stop play.
I agree! Really anything with Katatonia goes really well for rainy days. If I have to pick just one song I'd say Rainroom. That song really fits the mood well.
The last time I listened to this song was when I was walking home in the rain and I agree it is perfect.
Porcupine Tree - Heartattack in a Layby
Is this downvoted because it's not a rain pun, or did I just see a UG first and the users here actually downvoted something involving Steven Wilson?
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath, from the album Black Sabbath
    Ole' Nessie
Or the type o negative cover of this song which I find even darker than the original and perfect for a rainy night...
