Wednesday Question: Best Wake-Up Song

For this week's traditional Wednesday Question, we'd like to kindly ask you folks to think about tunes ideal for getting out of get and answer this:

What's the best wake-up song ever?

  • Post only one suggestion per comment after checking that your favorite wasn't already nominated (Ctrl+F and all).
  • Multiple nominations of one song create heavy confusion, since on one hand it's unfair to the given track to take into consideration only the most upvoted nomination, but seeing that multiple nominations allow one user to give two or more votes to the same tune, it's also unfair to other nominees not to discard it.
  • Vote up the ideas you support and vote down the ones you dislike.
We'll sum up your votes by Friday and bring you another traditional UG top list. Show us what you got now!

Chop Suey!  - System of a Down (Come on, you know we had to put it here)
Trust me. PRISON SONG! I had that for the whole of one single heart attack inducing morning.
Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
If you want Wagner, don't use such a cliché piece. Try the ouvertures from Lohengrin, Rheingold or Parsifal instead.
As a German (like Wagner) those are the most cliché pieces imaginable.
Yes, but those pieces are good to wake up to, which is what the Wednesday question is about. Ride of the Valkyries on the other hand is just a bad-ass piece everybody knows. I'd like to ride a horse through a wall of fire waving a sword over my head hearing it, but I wouldn't want to hear it waking up. It'll just give me a nasty Nam-flashback.
you called the pieces clichè and named way more cliché pieces as suggestion, that's why I replied what I replied.
My roommate used to have this as his alarm clock sound.
I did the same thing. I got to a point where I could shut off my stereo by the end of the short inhalation at the very beginning. It was a very effective alarm, for sure.
    Mad Season - Wake Up
This. And not just because it's called 'Wake Up' like a lot of the songs already mentioned, it's actually a very nice and mellow song to wake up with.
Nutshell by Alice In Chains. Only because I have my alarm sound set to it. I know it's depressing but the intro acoustic guitar is soothing to wake to.
Sunday Morning - Velvet Underground and Nico A soothing way to start the day, even if it's not Sunday.
    William Sitnin
    Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Perfect for slowly getting out of bed on a lazy Sunday - but if you need to jump start your day, not the best haha
This was the first music I ever had as an alarm. At times I'd forget I had anything in the player and I'd wake up to the creepy ambience and not know where I was because of the music.
    Korn - Wake Up
I came her to post this but not for just an alarm clock, I wish I could send it as someone else's alarm when I need them to get up. Sounds cruel but I think it'd be a great feature!
I have to say it's Limerent Death by The Dillinger Escape Plan. I can be groggy and barely awake but if I fumble with my phone and get that song playing I'm suddenly out of bed, headbanging and thrashing around my room!
I set Zora's Domain from Zelda as my alarm clock one time and it was amazing.
Come and get your love-Redbone. That drum intro wakes me right up.
Already been posted, but yeah agreed.
Yeah, sorry. It's hard to scroll through hundreds of comments, especially when they don't load all at once. Scrolled to the bottom, didn't see it, did it again after posting, and saw that not everything had loaded.
Yeah, it happens. I actually did just the same thing for the last Wednesday question. No biggie.
