Name the band you wish actually existed in real life...

For this week's Wednesday Question, we'd like you folks to focus on fictional bands and name the finest one, the one you wish existed in real life.

To make it official, the question is:

What is the greatest fictional band of all time?

Just so we're clear, we're asking you about bands that exist, but not in the real world; so bands from TV shows, movies, books, etc. We're NOT asking you to make up fictional bands.

THE RULES - post only one suggestion per comment after checking that your favorite wasn't already nominated (Ctrl+F and all).Multiple nominations of one artist or band create heavy confusion, since on one hand it's unfair to the given act to take into consideration only the most upvoted nomination, but seeing that multiple nominations allow one user to give two or more votes to the same group or musician, it's also unfair to other nominees not to discard it.

Finally, vote up the ideas you support and vote down the ones you dislike. We'll sum up your votes by Friday and bring you another traditional UG top list. Show us what you got now!

Steamy Ray Vaughn was better IMO, but he was more of a solo artist.

Faith +1 honestly should be number 1. But has nobody seriously mentioned TWAUGHTHAMMER?

Limozeen (The Strongbad band best known for TROGDOOORRR!)
    bangbang!!
Limozeen did not do Trogdor. Nope. Their songs are Because It's Midnite, Nite Mamas, We Don't Even Really Care About You, Save the Childrens, and maybe 1 or 2 other ones. Trogdor was 100% Strong Bad

I kept scrolling and scrolling thinking 'why has no one posted this?' Thank you for restoring my hope in UG. It's a shame it's so far down otherwise it would get gold.

Disappointed in UG that it took this long for them to come up.

Everybody seems to remember "Killer Tofu" (for good reason), but nobody seems to remember "Shout Your Lungs Out." That song kicks so much ass...how many other fictional bands have a bass solo?

The only fictive band with unfictive skills to make people happy and dance ! Big and lonely problem : not enough songs But quality over quantity ! And they have enough quality to make an entire penitentiary dance, so... Upvote if you need somebody to love !
    Teamster
YEAH THE BLUES BROTHERS !!!! Can't believe they are so low...

They'd be in the same category as Spinal Tap and The Monkees. A fictional band that ended up becoming a real band.
    luttis
Actually they were a real band who made a movie.. John Belushi made the band with Dan Aykroyd, then they wrote a script to make it a movie.

It started as an SNL sketch. It became popular (and fun for the members) so they started playing a few gigs here and there.

    The Lone Rangers

You can't pluralize "The Lone Ranger". There's 3 of you. Shouldn't it be the 3 Rangers?

If Get Shifty was released it'd hit the top 10 no doubt! SHIT ON THE FLOOR!

I got schwifty as fuck on a dance floor (with shitty dance remix music) with a buddy of mine, we emptied the dance floor in 30 seconds, people could not handle our schwiftyness. We did this several times throughout the night, ruining it for all the average wiggling fucktards. My thighs were aching for DAYS afterwards.

Disaster Area from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. "Disaster Area was a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones and was generally regarded as not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but also as being the loudest noise of any kind at all. Regular concert goers judged that the best sound balance was usually to be heard from within large concrete bunkers some thirty-seven miles away from the stage, whilst the musicians themselves played their instruments by remote control from within a heavily insulated spaceship which stayed in orbit around the planet - or more frequently around a completely different planet. Their songs are on the whole very simple and mostly follow the familiar theme of boy-being meets girl-being beneath silvery moon, which then explodes for no adequately explored reason."

That's "The Wonders", from "That Thing You Do" and they should've been nominated much sooner. I listen to their music almost daily it's good stuff. Long live the One-Ders!
    Ole' Nessie
    Gorillaz
    Riffmeisterman
Pretty sure Gorillaz are a real band

They are performed live by a real band, but that doesn't mean the whole purpose of it was to just be a band with animated videos. The idea is to create an image of fictional characters to simulate THEM as the real band... Same happens with Dethklok, which apparently has the gold medal right now.
    jevticsava
Not really, they do have a real band for the music, but the actual band consists of cartoon characters
    bangbang!!
Just need to point out that Doctor Teeth and the Electric Mayhem didn't get nominated until WAAAAYYYY down there, and people need to go down there and give those Muppets some votes!

Best parody band ever! They played at donnington in 1986!Lemmy hated them!Makes Spinal tap look like shit!
    AlexToodooloo
In production about the same time as Spinal Tap but released much earlier, this parody captures everything good, bad, serious and hilarious about being in a metal band. Bad News are a perfect caricature of every serious rock and metal band ever to grace the planet.

lol, they acted like such bad asses with their long hair, Kramer guitars, wild parties at the Smash Club, driving motorcycles, and rails of cocaine with Kimmy.....but whenever they got together and played it was always lame ass Elvis or Beach Boys covers.
