First off you have to know all the notes for frets 1-12:
```e||-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|
B||-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|
G||-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|
D||-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|
A||-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|
E||-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|```
Thats a lot too remember right. By the way (#) means sharp. There are flats too, but I'll keep them out for simplicity's sake. Now did you notice how B and C are together and E and F are too. Thats the key to finding them. All you have to do is memorize the order: A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#. Not that hard at all. Right?
Now, this helps if you have your guitar, on the E string if you think of the pattern down the neck it goes from fret 1-12:
`E||-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|`
Do you see the pattern in there? See how it continues that pattern I told you to memorize from E, and when it ends at G#, it just starts back over again from A? It goes through that same pattern on every string. As you see again in this tab:
```e||-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|
B||-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|
G||-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|
D||-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|
A||-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|
E||-F-|-F#-|-G-|-G#-|-A-|-A#-|-B-|-C-|-C#-|-D-|-D#-|-E-|```
Knowing this also helps you tune your guitar by ear as long as you know what just 'one string is tuned to. How you ask? Okay, suppose that you don't know what any of your strings are tuned to except for your 6th string, the thickest string. Which is tuned to an E in this case. You can tune your A string just by finding the "A" on that string, picking it of course then tuning your A string, the one right next to it, by ear. Simple right? If you got any questions just ask.
