Just finished the second season of LoK. it was pretty cool learning the origins of the Avatar but disappointing when Korra lost her connection to the past Avatars.. The whole Korra/Mako/Asami Thing was tedious though.

And just like that, Korra became a porn generator.

yeah dude relationship stuff was laaame I didn't like it. SEASON 3 THOUGH is so good. Villain has reasonable goals and isn't just "I WANNA BE EVIL AVATAR". I forget if there was any dumb relationship stuff...

I think season 2 is easily is the worst. Get on SEASON 3 asap

Just binged through Legend of Korra.

Both Avatar shows leave me depressed. What's the point of life now?

But we do hope it is Avatar related.

It's a genius plot, really, from a writing standpoint. The reincarnation and all that, and they could go forward or backward in the lineage and still have possible interesting takes.

Korra was pretty great though, it would be a challenge to match.

I just thought Korra was so much better.

I really enjoyed Last Airbender when I watched it, but going back after Korra it seems so much more childish.

It definitely is more childish. Especially at the beginning.

I really like Korra though. Probably just like TLA more because nostalgia

I like them both for different reasons. I was 11 years old when the original series started airing and 18 when LoK premiered, so I guess I grew up along side the avatars. It made sense that TLA was more geared towards children, and that LoK had a more mature tone. The now-older fans of TLA were the intended audience of LoK.
#3825
Childish is not necessarily bad in this case. Last Airbender was the classical to Korra's romantic.

I don't think it's bad, but it's such a different flavor than Korra (lesbian joke here somewhere), and not one that I preferred.

And Amon was a superb villain so that only credits Korra.

Azula and Zuko are both fucking fantastic. And the main 4 are all great too.

To me Korra felt more contrived. A lot of it was really well-done, but there were too many points in it that made me go "Yeah, sure, of course that's what happens." Yeah, of course there's a metalbending city that was never mentioned in season 1. Of course Kuvira became kung-fu Hitler-Stalin. Speaking of Kuvira, why did she surrender? Nothing Korra said seemed like something that would make a ruthless militaristic dictator turn remorseful all of a sudden, especially given how headstrong and dead-set on her goals she was. Varrick's proposal felt forced too. Yeah it was clear there was a level of affection between him and Zhu Li, but it seemed like it went from "Of course I need you. How am I going to get anything done if nobody cleans up my lab?" to "I love you!" without any development. And as long as I'm bitching about romantic subplots, the whole love triangle in season 1 didn't really feel that impactful to me. It felt like it was just kinda there. Occasionally there was a little bit of story centered around it, but compared to the romantic subplots in TLA, it just felt really forgettable.

That's not to say that I thought LoK was bad, I really liked it. But between the two, TLA felt much more purposeful to me, and its story felt like it flowed more naturally. Granted it's been about two or three years since I watched LoK and about four or five since I watched TLA, so I may be misremembering some things.
