Ok, I searched about 6 or 7 pages. Found a strat thread, a tele thread, various amp threads but no Les Paul threads. If there is one, link me and I'll close this one or whatever.

So in the other threads based on one instrument/ amp, you basically show off pictures of your gear (in this case, Les Pauls) and talk about them. And stuff. Ja?

Ok, here's my Les Pauls...

This is my 2010 Gibson Les Paul Standard in faded Honeyburst.

Got it about a month ago. I got it on ebay for £890. The only reason it was so cheap is the shop dropped it and split the wood under the nut on the back of the neck. They fixed it up and you can hardly see it. I heard it also makes it stronger too. I'll be keeping this guitar for years.

And this is my Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty

I got it about a year ago for my b'day. It's a very heavy guitar. Nearly 9kg. All gold is gold plated, grover tuners, mahogany and alder body. It's obviously the three pickup version. You can get some nice, nearly strat sounds out of the middle pickup. Obviously it's a lot cheaper than the Gibson, at £420. It just didn't have the power in the pickups I wanted and it was really heavy too. The high gloss finish on the back of the neck meant it wasn't that fast either.

There's mine done. Let's see your Les Pauls. Or Les Pauls that you want or admire!

and?

Just sayin'. Quite a strong opinion. Why don't you like them? Have you played/ owned one for a long enough time to actually properly judge it?

probably trollin' like in that silly "guitars/brands to avoid" thread (which was actually just a massive troll thread).

I love my les paul even though i'm not really into les pauls so much (apart from the deluxe - beautiful rich chimey tone!). it's just theres something about the one i have that i can't quite put my finger on but i love it.

I like SGs better though

Yes i have owned and played a lot of different modells. They are badly buildt, not comfortable to play, way to expensiv. You pay to much for the name.

Im not trolling i really dislike Gibson.

I guess you mean lbs. 9 kg would be ridiculous.

Anyway here's my Epi LP Standard Plus Top in Cherry Sunburst. I've had it for 2 months now, I bought it used for $ 575, they go for $730 new here.

Gear:

- Epiphone Les Paul Standard
- Vox VT-20+

My Epi Les Paul Custom.
If you start a reply with: I have never played one but I have heard good things about it! Your opinion is invalid.

theres already a les paul thread, but i dont think its been posted in in a long ass time, so i guess this is better than a necrobump.

to stay on topic, i've go two, an 07 r7 and an epi standard. anyone that goes around saying all gibsons/les pauls suck are idiots and should be castrated so they cant reproduce. its such an ignorant statement and i read it every day. pisses me off

I don't know whether you actually have owned a lot of different Les Pauls or not but for argument's sake, we'll say you have.

Personally, I think they're very comfortable to play. Mine is pretty light and sits well. It is very nicely balanced and the headstock doesn't dive to the ground. The action is so low, it practically plays itself. Set up perfectly without me having to do anything. The build quality is amazing on mine. There's not a single thing that has gone wrong and not a blemish or anything.

Now, the price. Yes, I agree, they are VERY expensive. But it's because they are so desirable. A lot of the work is also done by hand. The wood is very high quality as with every other component on the guitar.

The amount of guitars they push out each day is massive. So not being able to understand that there might be a few (compared to the huge number made) is just arrogant and it sounds like you just got unlucky and got a few of the bad ones. Which, in my opinion, are still very good guitars. But I understand when you spend that much, you expect an equally quality instrument.

Now the sound. It's incredible. It's a very distinct and unique sound. And it's very versatile - another reason why it's so popular. You will hear them on jazz, blues, metal, classic rock, country and everything in between.

You're more than welcome to your opinion but just don't talk trash about them in a thread dedicated to them and for people who actually like them.

Here's my '97 Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Cutaway:

This is my '99 Gibson Les Paul Classic:

I used to have a singlecut Gibson Les Paul Special, but replaced it with this superior '98 Hamer Special (I added the pickguard) doublecut; the stock P-90's are Seymour Duncan:

i quite like those too, mostly the ones with the active pickups - they are so clear and transparent sounding. I have often considered buying one but never really been able to justify buying a guitar with active pickups when they don't really match the styles of music that i play. i really like the old AR series double cutaways, too (now only available as a prestige model as far as i'm aware).

Ive got a 1977 (lawsuit) Ibanez Les Paul (Yeah-I Realize that its not a "REAL" Les Paul, but it does play as well -if not better- than many Gibson Les Pauls out there.) Got it for 200 bucks..has 3 humbucker 'super 70's pickups, which I absolutly love. Will post pics when Camara is availible.

Yeah but this one sucks already and it's old.

Let's start a good one.

I don't think I've ever played anything in black walnut. It's a great ice cream flavor, so I assume it works well for a strat too.

The slugs in the pickups for telecasters are from old winchester rifles, which is why they sound so country.
