What kind of drum is this? I always thought it was too small to be a djembe.

Me, don't post too much, but I usually check it a couple times a day... don't think there's a lot that could be done to really improve activity much as most people signing up on this website are most likely guitarists/bassists haha, such is life though

True that man.

And no idea I'm afraid Legion, collect a lot of percussion but don't know the names of most of it, haha.

What if we keep doing "Drummer of The Months" threads for the sake of it? I enjoyed doing one.

Anyone interested?

Yeah that'd be cool. I know I messed up not submitting mine last time, I'd even got it written as well, but I have it saved.

Publish it and I'll follow.

Heck, let's skip the monthly part. I'll do one whenever I can

I know almost nothing about drums, usually an ex drummer friend of mine does the beat for my projects but I haven't seen him online in a while so I was wondering if someone here could help me figuring this beat out (I love that beat and I'd like to add it to my drum loops library) :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JaYMfbDikc

What's going on there ? I fail to replicate it in Addictive Drums.

I'm pretty sure Max from Sepultura/Soulfly doesn't bother putting the B and high E strings on his guitar.

did you guys ever notice that tomas haake uses his crash quite a lot in the middle of bars, not just at the beginning of each bar or all the way through the bar? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dsq9gYk9q38

i don't know if i'm just being stupid cos im a bit stoned but it seems like he hits the crash quite a lot to accentuate powerful points of a guitar rhythm, and i don't notice other metal drummers doing that all that much. anyone agree?

It's actually pretty common for drummers in progressive metal (Djent style especially)
CAFO by Animals As Leaders is a prime example.

In general metal, though? Not so much.

^Really? I do this all the time, never realized it was a thing

In other news, that's the first Meshuggah song I've listened to where I was super digging it the whole way through. Might actually have to start listening to some more of their stuff now...

opinions on the alesis dm lite kit 5 piece? I want to start drumming (mainly with an electronic kit, because of noise levels and space). This would be my first kit.

is it worth purchasing? or should i put in a little more money for something better? suggestions for beginner electronic kits would be appreciated. Thanks

I think I have a problem...

Just bought some brand new Paiste 602 SE hats, when I really don't need them at all.

The price was too good to pass up!

sweet a drum forum. Can someone help me out regarding an electric kit i am considering?
Played accoustically for a year and a half and have to down scale to an electric for space and noise reasons, i was looking at the alesis dm6 (http://www.dawsons.co.uk/alesis-dm6-kit?gclid=CIyMs6SYjMICFRPItAod4ycAHA). But i cant find out much about it, i have seen a few solid reviews and a couple of youtube demonstrations but i would like someone who has first hand experience with one. I had already posted this question up in the drum thread but have had no answers. would appreciate any input.

tldr
buying an alesis dm6, give me some info.

Can someone tell me if the "Tab Pro" iPad app/service is useful for a drummer? It's impossible to tell from anything that is written about the app on any of the official web sites, and the app won't let me even peek at what it can do without paying first.

There also doesn't appear to be a forum for talking about the app or service.

Thanks!
