I'd assume so they were "off the grid"?

I like this quote by Alan Moore, we live in an anarchy; it's our default state.

"I believe that all other political states are in fact variations or outgrowths of a basic state of anarchy; after all, when you mention the idea of anarchy to most people they will tell you what a bad idea it is because the biggest gang would just take over. Which is pretty much how I see contemporary society. We live in a badly developed anarchist situation in which the biggest gang has taken over and have declared that it is not an anarchist situation – that it is a capitalist or a communist situation."

Anarchy?

Coming from someone who looks like Noam Chomsky? It's cool.
Coming from someone who has a mohawk? No.

Wrong forum bro. We're the people that don't think wearing a suit and tie give you credibility.

I dare say that is kinda one of the founding principles of the punk rock movement.

but no one here likes ska
I like ska, but not usually when it's mixed with punk, so I sort of agree with you there. I'm sure there's got to be such a thing as Skanarchy, composed of black dudes who wear suits and ties and are cooler than you.

Skanarchists have invisiblity cloaks so you don't see them. They're friends with the banished reptilians.
#134
Noam Chomsky doesnt seem to wear suits and ties, just granddad jumpers and slightly creased shirts.

Which means my anarchy is (in)credible.
#135
I Googled Chomsky and the only photo I found of him in a suit and tie was about 40+ years old.
#138
I've got a professor right now that's obsessed with Chomsky. He's had us watch a ton of his lectures. Never realized until recently how non-compelling of a public speaker he is. Dude makes valid points and astute observations, but goddamn is his stuff dry. He's more enjoyable to read than listen to.

He's like 300 years old, cut him some slack. Anywho I'm a little disappointed about his stance on the current electoral process. An anarchist who votes (within the current socio-political system) is like an atheist who prays.

I've heard that before but I don't agree.

Well that saying makes a nice bumper sticker, but it's just as unanarchist to work for capitalists or buy material goods then. You should be able to separate your ideological whims from your pragmatic options to solve what problems are solvzble thru bourgeois elections. And in some cases voting democrat is the best way to to that. :s
#144
I sent in my ballot today, I was sooo stoked. I wish I could just vote every day.
#146
Just looked up the absentee ballot process for my state and fuck that.

Mailin' shit in and gettin' shit back and then mailin' it back in again? That is awful. Why can't I just send 'Barak Obamaz' written in neon crayon on a napkin to someone or sumthin'?

When the revolution comes I'm gonna smash this state SO hard.
#147
My state (or at least county) only does mail-in, although my mom says you can also drop it off at the courthouse if you want. but you have to pay for your own postage and everything, which seems like a poll tax to me.

I think if you're not physically walking into a booth and pulling a lever and getting a sticker afterwards, you're missing out on a big part of the experience.

He's no Basil Marceaux.

I would vote if I didn't have to go out of my way. But, like, it's srsly so absurdly futile. Guess voting is for people who enjoy voting/aren't rationally fatalistic.

Yeah I was pretty bummed when I found out there's no actual voting booths here.

There's this cat running for congress in my district named Art Robinson.

He's your standard republican in that he thinks giving 1 cent to a person in need is liberty-ending socialism and that every poor person is poor because they don't work hard. Nothing surprising.

He's a chemist and he brags abuot working with the great Linus Pauling. He even brags about being on a science commitee that exists to refute global warming. Whatevs. Conservatives worship the economy and hate anything that can compromise profits. No surprises.

What he doesn't brag about is that he thinks low doses of radiation are good for you. Like in the sense that just shoving some nuclear waste in your drywall is good for you. You have to dilute it first but still.

The rest of his politics are equally insane but the fact that everyone around here is for him is scary.
