There's a quality for having a phobia of real world interaction. I'm fine with you being a hacker.

+ Being a rigger is a question of equipment. You don't need a lot of skills to run a flyspy.

I revive this thread with a very funny story of some of the most epic trolling in the history of Dungeons & Dragons: The Tale of 50 Copper and Ludi'drizz't.

It's probably fake, but it's still hilarious.

And it made the common error of spelling the "bated" in "with bated breath" as "baited," which is a pet peeve of mine. In the original /tg/ thread this came from, someone corrected him, but it didn't make it to the compiled story on the wiki, since it wasn't part of the original text, I guess. Although whoever posted it fixed some spelling errors, so I dunno.

/tg/ storytime threads are always epic. The majority of the stories are really shitty, but there always seems to be one that saves the thread. Stuff like the tale of Old Man Henderson, the only character to ever win Call of Cthulhu.

I don't know if I've posted it here (it's probably a 50:50 chance), but if I haven't, then go read it if you don't know about it. It's far more entertaining than it has any reason to be.

I'd love to play GURPS again. I played a zombie survival game on Halloween last year. They made pre-made characters and you rolled for what you got. I got the hairdresser.

I bought War of the Ring (second edition) about a week ago. I've been painting the miniatures and watching the on-line tutorials. There are eight tutorials that each last like 40 mins. But it seems worth it, the game has a board of Middle Earth that is like twice the size of the Risk board.

The art work and figures are awesome, considering it was made by a couple of guys in Italy. There's a collectors edition that costs like $600.00 and everything is written in Elvish, comes in a hand carved wooden case, the figures are already painted. Its beautiful.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there to you guys. Its one of the best table top games i've seen in a very long time, with an incredible combat and turn system. With the Hobbit coming out soon, and renewed interest, it might be worth checking out. The basic game (not collectors edition) that I got was $90.

I would be in if I didn't have school. If you have an open spot in the summer because someone is working and/or their character dies, let me know.

With DnD, you should go to 3.5. It's much better than 4.0.

Pathfinder is superior.

I'm in a cool Pathfinder game. No set alignment. The DM assigns point to the various axes based on our actions. It's cool because we can really get into our characters and no worry about fitting in a specific alignment. We're starting out very young so we could start as lawful good then slowly turn chaotic evil.

I've been trying to get a Pathfinder group together since forever now, sucks when everyone that wants to play is too far away.

Also, Dwarf Battle-Cleric reporting in.

Use a virtual tabletop like Roll20 or Maptools.

Knew about Maptools, didn't know about Roll20. Looks interesting, how easy is it to use?

I can sum it up in about 5 steps

1. Sign Up

2. Get your group to sign up

3. Create Campaign

4. Invite your group

5. Click play

No need to forward your ports or set up a Hamachi server. It's all in your browser. It also has a nifty 3d dice roller for a bit of added authenticity.

I'm going to be playing Pathfinder on a fairly popular stream this Saturday! If you have an interest in tabletops and want to see how one is played or have some fun watching our antics go to http://www.twitch.tv/lordkat or live.lordkat.com

Or if you want in, sign up for the forums and find the Pathfinder Pirates thread under the "Games" section.

Anyone know a good place to get figurines beside Reaper? I'd like to paint a little to relax after class but I can't find a suitable fig.

Browse here:

www.elementgames.co.uk

and here:

www.waylandgames.co.uk

Lots of different ranges, and usually a 10-20% on prices.

There are loads of other specialist suppliers (gribbly miniatures, ultraforge), but they tend to be a little pricey.

EDIT:

Shite, you're US. I don't really know what to suggest - Malifaux?

So the other day I downloaded the PDFs of a few up-to-date 40K rulebooks. I haven't played since the game was still in 3rd edition, which was something like 15 years ago.

WHAT THE CHRIST HAVE THEY DONE. HONESTLY WHAT IS THIS.

DEEP STRIKING LAND RAIDERS? SERIOUSLY?

AND WHY THE HELL DO THE NECRONS HAVE CHARACTERS?! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE C'TAN?!

WHAT.

THE.

FUUUUCK.

Luckily my friend still has an old 3rd ed. rulebook and we have a couple armies between us, screw you Games Workshop. You don't tell me how to play.

I started watching the Tabletop video series the other day (with Will Wheaton)

Hot damn I didn't think so many cool tabletop games existed O_o

The only RPG ones I liked the most though was Fiasco. I'm not that much into dwarves and shit (DnD and countless of other RPG stuff), but other "real-life scenario" RPG's are great too.

There at times where you make it better by making it simple. No need to create 1000000 races and 23498727398 worlds and 11213 planes of existance with 1213 types of weapons/magic/attacks and stuff.
The point is that you create the complexity with your imagination, no need to be spoonfed all that shit to you

At least story-wise. In terms of gameplay they can be cool. I guess the story complexity can even be tolerated if the game is just too damn good (like some of those videos mentioned too) :P

Well...this goes on for any RPG basically. It still holds even truer to tabletop ones.
I'd prefer to play a Ticket to Ride over any DnD tabletop game any time.

GURPS is a simple but versatile system.

I really try to stay away from Warhammer 40k. I have enough expensive habits. I play the RPG though.
