Hello wise people of MT, quick question.

What scale is used to play a solo at 3:35?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r7sWh-CrkE

Byzantine? Diminished?

When it comes to standard major/minor scales i can successfully identify keys and chords, but this sort of sound is new to me and I'm interested in how would one go about reproducing it (any specific intervals to highlight when playing, anything at all is useful)

Thanks

Identify key, identify out-of-key notes. I'm not going to listen to the song but I bet it's the minor scale with ons or two accidentals.
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.

I had a quick listen...it's the minor scale with one accidental, a natural 7th. The harmonic minor scale and a very predictable outcome.
