I'm not quite sure what I should get. I've found three that I like: a Schecter C-7 Custom (of course), an ESP LTD H-1000FR and one of the new Jackson SLAT 7s. I like all of these options, but they're a little too ordinary-looking for me. What I'd really like is something that has everything these other guitars have, in some other shape, preferably a V, for less than $1000. Any ideas?

You could also go Carvin: http://www.carvinguitars.com/customshop/sevenstring.php

Yes, I know, not a very exciting body shape. However, you get Carvin quality and they're customizable (within a certain range of options). It wouldn't just be your Carvin 7, it would be YOUR Carvin 7.

(In the meantime, save your pennies up for this: http://www.eqguitars.com/index.php/models/guitars/masai/ )

They're both sweet guitars! (@Danny, Wesbanez) Why would you want a 7? What bands do you play?

You are what they call a “rhythm guitarist”. While it's not as glamorous as playing lead you can still get laid. Especially if you can sing and play.

Maybe he just wants a 7 to expand is range? It's not a matter of what bands he plays :P

Thank you jeleopard for stating the obvious for those who might not know. Anyway, I've noticed a few suggestions that fit my criteria, but I do need to say 2 things: 1) I'd rather not have a signature model, and 2) a Floyd Rose us REQUIRED. Keep the ideas coming!

The Schecter I recommended does also come with a Floyd. http://www.schecterguitars.com/Products/Guitar/Blackjack-SLS-V-7-FR-Special-Edition.aspx

But really dude, I'd get a Carvin. They're amazing. They're more like Fender Strats than superstrats, but hey...

I actually went to the Carvin website and customized a DC727 that came to be around $1700. I can get everything I put on it for much cheaper than that. And jeleopard, I've seen the Schecter you've suggested before, and the only reason I haven't gotten that over everything else is because I despise Blackouts.

I think the Jackson's winning me over, but even still, keep the suggestions coming!

I can't say I am impressed with Carvin, went to their company store in California (I think it was Sacramento) and played all the guitar models they had on there and the craftmanship wasn't really that good and their pickups were just not doing it for me. I decided not go get one at that point and went with Jackson.

Cl...clas... idfk.

I do know that at 14, super pointy metal guitars are appealing, but as you get older, it will become this embarrassing thing you want to replace.

Or he could get

That way he could still have the Floyd and have a kickass guitar with kickass pickups.

Those boys in Whitechapel sure have neat signatures.
