What's up?

I'm looking forward to buy a new guitar for heavier stuff so help me choose before black friday because i'm hoping to find good deals from MusiciansFriend, but unfortunately i can't buy used cus i don't live in USA so i won't be able to try it first.

My budget max is $700.

I'd like to buy an guitar to play Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Joe Satriani, AC/DC, GnR...

Preferences? Right handed, 6 strings, Rosewood fretboard and maybe Floyd Rose (thinking about the future)

Pickups? - humbuckers

Color? - Blue if possible

New or Used? - New

Location? - MusiciansFriend

Current Gear? - Eletric Guitar only the Yamaha 112V.

I'm totally in love with blue Schecters, they are very beautiful from the pictures and i even dreamed of playing one of those blue Schecters a couple of times but that doesn't mean i will buy one. I want to find the best bang for the buck for this price range but of course, blue color would be awesome.

Current list:
Schecter C-1 Custom (See-Thru Blue)
Schecter Blackjack SLS C-1 (See-Thru Blue Burst)
Schecter Damien Elite (Dark Metallic Blue)
Ibanez S570MQM (Bright Blue Burst)
ESP MH-1000NT (See-Thru Blue)

Thanks

Regards,

ESP MH-1000 caught my attention and with a good discount coupon from MF it will be on my budget. I will add the ESP to my list.

Gibson Explorer is also great but way over my budget.

These things are great. It's a little more purple than blue, but still cool. And the ZR Trem is one of the best around.

+1

Although the MH-1000 is nothing to wag a finger at, they have good trems as well.

Also, for general advice, if you're *not* going to get a guitar with a trem, it'd be better to get a cheaper guitar and put more funds into your amp fund. All the guitar has to do is be comfortable - your amp is doing all of the work when it comes to sound.

That said if you do definitely want a trem, don't cheap out on the guitar - cheap trems are made out of cheap metal and eventually wear out, meaning it will be useless unless you totally block it (turning your guitar into a hardtail).

Ibanez S570MQM added to the list

I can buy it for less than 600$ from MF and with shipping fees, seller comission etc.. it will cost around $800 for me and believe me the best deal found here in Brazil for this model is $1600USD and the ESP MH-1000NT around $1850USD.

Ibanez S570MQM removed from the list

I don't want Maple fretboard (it's personal nothing wrong with the guitar)

ESP LTD MH-1000NT is winning for now. I think it's best suited for my needs

LTD is not ESP mainstream correct? Still good enough?

What about Gibson Les Paul ? Which one should be good for me? I think i can make some sacrifices to improve my budget to $900usd and with a good discount from BF, Christmas and New Year deals. I can find a great deal for less than $900.

EMG active pickups will need 9v batteries, right? Any will do or i must choose some good quality batteries? Which ones? Any extra info about this will be really appreciated.

There is an S570 with rosewood fretboard and blue burst:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/S570DXQMBBB/

However, if you want the best guitar for your price range you should definitely look at an Ibanez rg920. It has a more blue finish for one thing, plus it comes with pickups that are more than enough for what you want to play. Trust me I own one and they are great! Now if you want to play in drop tunings do not get one with a trem....get a hard tail schecter and stick emgs in it if it doesn't already have them.

You most likely don't want active pickups. The only band that plays with active pickups (of which you mentioned) is Metallica and even they don't use actives all the time (not sure about Megadeth).

I think a Les Paul would suit well that kind of music (OK, it suits almost everything well).

I think i should have waited a few more days because many deals will begin but i've contacted my friend from Georgia and if the 15% discount coupon that i got from MF online chat works, he will buy the Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst for $849usd also added one Dunlop Dual-design straplok and one levy strap soft suede to the order.

Hope i've made the right choice.

It doesn't have active pickups, it's not blue, but it's an american Gibson!

It worths almost $3000usd (6000BRL) here in Brazil

Thanks for the advice guys. I hope that the coupon works and he buy that amazing guitar for me

Just because it's made in America doesn't mean it's right for you. For instance if you like Wizard necks, a POS Indonesian Ibby will feel better to you than an MIA Gibson.

Do you know your preferences? You're jumping around from Ibanezes to Gibsons and everything in between... it doesn't seem like you know what you want at all.

To be honest, i'd rather buy the ESP but i'm trying to find the best bang for the buck so this Gibson looks like a great deal.

I just want to get the best quality possible guitar. I would buy the Schecter Damien Elite cus i think it looks so beautiful...

I mean just like home theaters.. The Sony Muteki looks so beautiful and it's HUGE but with an simple onkyo setup you can beat that muteki easily

EDIT: The discount coupon did not work so i will have more time to decide.

If you're talking about the MH-1000, the Gibson really isn't that much better objectively. I mean, to be completely honest, the LTD Deluxe is probably a more solid guitar on all accounts.

Labor is cheaper in Korea than America. If you have an American guitar that costs the same as a Korean guitar, then the American guitar has to be sacrificing something somewhere. Since we know Gibson uses Hugh quality materials, that only leaves build quality.

I'm not trying to start a Gibson hate train or sway you one way or the other. I just want you to see all the angles and make as informed a decision as you can.

I really wouldn't bother with a Damien. It's nowhere near the same league as these guitars. While looks are very important, make sure you're getting a quality instrument first and foremost.

Can you try the guitars? Do you have any music stores near? You can always go and try stuff and then buy it online unless the guys in the store decide to sell it cheaper for you (you can always ask them to lower the price).

I mean, we can't tell whether you like Gibsons, ESPs, Ibanezes... or not. But for the bands you mentioned you most likely don't want active pickups. Only Metallica (they sometimes use passives) and Megadeth (only Mustaine) of the bands you mentioned use actives.
