A couple of years ago I bought a fender stratocaster second hand from a local guitar shop, I'm aware now how many different types of fender strat exist! Is there an easy way to find out what type I own?

What's the serial number?

Go here http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/articles/u-s-instruments-product-dating/ and it will tell you. Or post it here and I'll tell you.

Does it say made in America. Made in Mexico or what?

Serial numbers tell you the year, month and factory. Other than a few exceptions to the system, they won't tell you the model.

The easiest way is to post photos and the specification (as best you know it) here, and someone will probably recognise the model.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

The serial number is N7209369, it says made in USA on the headstock, what sort of specs would help define it? Tried uploading pictures but it said the file was too large? New to this and I'm on my phone.

consumerrelations@fender.com

if the guitar is after 1992 or 1994(i can't remember) they can tell you everything from what color the guitar was originally to what pick ups are in it. everything.

Erm, it was a while ago, between 400-500 (£, there was some slight cosmetic damage, (a tiny chip on the top of the body)
