e|-10---8--0--5--0-
B|--8---8--1--1--0-
G|--8---8--0--0--8-
D|--8---8--0--2--9-
A|-10--10--2--3--9-
E|--8---8--3-----7-

Junior's usually at least a little terse, but he knows his stuff. I've always read his posts in a grouchy grandfather voice, a grouchy grandfather with a huge stiffy for alternate picking.
Besides that, he's right this time. As usual.

Diminished chords are fun.

I like M7 and m7, although a little cliche.
I also like Sus2 chords. I think they are the best.
add6 chords are very "Green hill happy" if you know what i mean.

One sonority that I think is really beautiful and totally underutilized is 7sus4(add3). A good way to voice it is a normal 7sus4 chord with the added 3 on top (doing the opposite - a normal 7 chord with the sus4 on top - would give you a nasty sounding b9 and obscure a lot of the chord sound). Doing this makes you hear the 3 as a tension ("tension 10" if you will) and the sus4 as a basic chord tone. Alternatively, you can place the 3 and sus4 right next to each other, which will give you a b2 rub, which can be very nice sometimes. Here's a basic example, spelled from the bottom up:
D7sus4(add3)
D G C F#

A Form 2, Drop 2 voicing will give a similar result with a b2 interval. 1st inversion maj7 chords.

I personally like stuff with lots of open strings, something like

e ---0----0----0---------
b ---8----3----3---------
G ---0----0----0---------
D ---0----0----0---------
A ---7----3----5---------
E ---0--------------------

Those being Em7, Cadd2 and Dsus2sus4... I think.

Check out Joe Pass Guitar Chords book, you'll get from sweet to dark to whatever you wish. It really opened my eyes to chord as the stuff featured it's awesome.

e:------12-14-12-10----------
B:8-8--12-12-12-10-10-------
G:7-9--12-12-12-12-10-9--7
D:9-7--10-10-10-10-10-10-9
A:----------------------12-12-10
E:8-8---------------------------8

I know I posted two times but had to mention the book. It works, I mean, I just made that up with some chords in it and some I just made up.
I have it, but it's also available on scribd.com

Replace every chord with a sus2 chord. It sounds epic.

Edit:

Also, let your B and high E strings ring open.

---F-F#-G-A-B-C--D
e|-0-0--0-0-0-0--0
B|-0-0--0-0-0-0--0
G|-2-3--4-6-8-9--11
D|-3-4--5-7-9-10-12
A|-3-4--5-7-9-10-12
E|-1-2--3-5-7-8--10

^ These are all majors. A (add9) is my favorite of them.

---B-C-C#-D-E-F#-G
e|-0-0-0--0-0-0--0
B|-0-0-0--0-0-0--0
G|-4-5-6--7-9-11-12
D|-4-5-6--7-9-11-12
A|-2-3-4--5-7-9--10
E|----------------

^ C# is m7, C is Maj7, G is major. Everything else will work as minor or major chords.

These add9 chords are also cool:

---G--F-Eb-C-Bb
e|-10-8-6--3-1
B|-10-8-6--3-1
G|-0--0-0--0-0
D|-9--7-5--2-0
A|-10-8-6--3-1
E|------------
