Hey guys! I'm a beginner bass player. (I've played bass for 3 months only). But I also want to play the guitar. I'm choosing between the SGR C-1 and the Ibanez GRG270B. I'd play metal mostly. I've heard that the Ibanez has a bad tremolo, but the SGR doesnt have any reviews. Which one should i buy? Or do you guys have any other ideas? I can spend ~320-330$. (sorry about my bad grammar)

Edge III's have a bad rep around here. One of the Ibanez guru's can go more into detail than I can. The Schecter has a European cottonwood body (Never heard of it) but it has a string through body and a fixed bridge.

I am not a fan of Schecters, but I would go for that one before the Ibby in this case. White one looks sexy as hell.

In the end, the only question is: what bass would Jesus play?

I think he's a Fender Jazz guy.

European cottonwood?seriously? I sounds like it should always smell like fresh linens on a clothes line

I don't recommend getting an Ibanez with an Edge III trem unless you want this to happen...

The problem with them is that the trem is made of really cheap metal and the kinfe edges will wear out, as you can see in my pics. Then the thing will never stay in tune after you go all "wild whammy action" which pretty much defeats the purpose of owning a guitar with a double locking trem.

You'll have to either block the trem or sell the guitar for parts on ebay (which is what I did...)

Do you want a whammy bar? Because I don't think the Schechter guitar you listed has one.

What do you mean by blocking the trem? Removing the tremolo bar?
Also, what's a whammy bar?
Thanks a lot

I'm also looking at the LTD M-50 BLKS, is the Vintage trem good? Or maybe the LTD MH-50NT which has a string through body?

There are things you can buy that make that locks trem down rendering it unusable.
Tremol-no is one such device

Whammy bar is a term used to describe either the actual bar or floating bridge depending on who you ask.
