So... I found this at an awesome price on TalkBass that was too low to pass up, the guy ended up backing out the first time, then contacted me a few weeks later asking if I still wanted, so I snatched her up!

I give you, the Peavey Fury:

USA made - The upgraded EMGs are worth what I paid for it alone!

It's definitely seen some use, but it sounds AMAZING! I've never been into the P-Bass sound, but WOW does this thing sound killer!

Honestly, no other basses have really impressed me the way that Peaveys have. Such amazing instruments, especially at the price. I've tried some high end Fenders, and this one kills them all, as far as tone goes!

Only thing I don't like is the neck isn't as thin as my Peavey Axcelerator, but whatever, still sounds epic!

Nice. Do you still have your other bass?

And what drums are in the background? review?

Yes!

I suspect the electronics on it might be screwed up though cause it should sound fuller than it does (it's actually giving a really weird waveform when it's recorded that I've never seen before, which leads me to believe that something is up with it - Theoretically, it should sound fatter than the Fury). Plays better than this one, though.

Just got some new ones

Probz post a thread for that in the drum forum next week once I get to play with them more

Wrong section of the forum.

I'm aware of this, I am a mod in this forum, afterall

Figured my homies in GG&A might be more interested.

A much more valid argument. Do you play anything else apart from bass and drums?

I guess it depends who you ask... but I did get this in the mail a few days ago:

i have always been impressed with the older peavey basses. i had a late 70's T40 that was awesome, great product for the money.

def digging the EMG's on it. i must admit, i haven't had the chance to play emg's on a bass yet, but i do like active pups on bass.

Very cool! I've just recently got into peavey after seeing a retro fire, very cool high quality starter. How are the EMG pups? I'm working on a guitar/bass hybrid using my modded strat, half a p-bass pickup, dual circuits and an octave pedal to play guitar with octave bass lines at the same time and still haven't decided on the bass pickup. I'll probably go with a cheap OEM one for now, but eventually replace it with a better one.

I saw in a couple of pictures that on Bucketheads Les Paul (only some pictures) that his neck pickup is painted in white. Can anyone explain to me why he would do this, and if there are any pros and cons.

Yeah, I've heard the T40s are great. I've had my eye on them for a while, looking to snatch up a good deal, but I think a Millennium 5 string is higher on my list right now, since I've already got 2 4 strings of my own, plus 2 4 strings that are my friend's

I haven't really used EMGs on many basses before, at least none that I've heard the stock sound of first to compare. My knowledge of bass pickup tones are basically limited to what comes stock on the ones I've tried at the stores. Only EMGs I've heard on a bass are soapbar ones on Specters and Schecters, and I've never been too impressed with either (in fact, besides my Axcelerator, I haven't really liked any basses that come stock with soapbar pickups...).

I really wish my friend's 1978 P-Bass was working, because it has the same EMGs that the Peavey does, and it'd be an interesting comparison to see how close the "copy" gets to the real deal. Someday I'll fix it...

nice score! ever since your axcelerator thread I've been on the hunt for one

Yeah, they're pretty awesome. The Plus version like mine are very rare, it seems - But... you can pick up the regular Axcelerators and 5 string models pretty frequently on eBay. I was going to pick up a 5 string a few weeks ago, but I'm afraid it's going to sound too similar to what I already have, and I don't want two basses that sound the same. That's the main reason I want the Millennium vs. a Cirrus or something, because they have a Jazz and Music Man pickup in them, which are the two left that I don't have yet.

Yeah, the Kemper has quite a few bass profiles available for it, but I haven't tried any of them yet. Bet it'd sound really cool through my PA.

P.S. Just an FYI, if anyone's looking for a sick deal on some basses, there's quite a few USA Peaveys up on TalkBass right now:

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/peavey-forum-4-mia-948342/ - Forum (Basically the same as the Fury, just with a soapbar, instead), $200.

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fs-only-peavey-fury-made-usa-$159-945676/ - Fury w/ gigbag, $159.

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/peavey-unity-dyna-4-killer-bass-$350-firm-943908/ - Unity Dyna 4 (P/J), $350

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/vintage-early-80s-peavey-t-20-a-943738/ - T20, $175

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/2-peavey-gbasses-f-s-only-942557/ 2 G-Basses, Modulus copies w/ graphite necks (I'm pretty sure Modulus actually made the necks for these...), comes with hardshell case, $375 each

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/two-peavey-millenniums-931451/ - Millennium Plus 4 J/J, $390

There's also another Millennium in the last link that I'd LOVE to get my hands on, cause it's got a birdseye board and is just overall freaking EPIC, but $800 is a little steep for that one...
