Thanks for your answer, do you think the different coils on the other guitars will make a difference in the sound I would like to achieve? (some have two humbuckers, but with a single coil in the middle).
Single coils generally sound cleaner, more like an acoustic. Humbuckers sound thicker, and handle gain well. If you can get a guitar with both, you'll be set. An HSS (Humbucker ing the bridge, two single coils) Pacifica would be a good choice. I would say for what you want, a Humbucker would do you well, but you may want the option of using both Humbuckers and Single Coils.
