There is a fella selling a used 2001 Fender Stratocaster 62 Reissue Lake Placid Blue with lace sensor pickups. What would be a fair price assuming this guitar is in good condition? The fella is asking $450.

It looks just like this one.

If it's a '62 RI then it's not MIM.

That's silly money. I'd buy that right away. What Lace's are they? They sound great!

if MIA a fair price would be $600-700. if MIM it's a $350 guitar. (there is the hot rod'd 62 mim model).

i'm not sure if they did them in 2001.

if it's mia, it's a great deal.

I don't think I've ever played anything in black walnut. It's a great ice cream flavor, so I assume it works well for a strat too.

The slugs in the pickups for telecasters are from old winchester rifles, which is why they sound so country.

So I had a chance to look at it. The guitar is MIM, has lace sensor gold at the neck and middle positions and a lace sensor red a the bridge. The neck has a nice flame and the seller claims all electronics have been upgraded. It plays really nice and there isn't a scratch on it. The seller is claiming it is 2001 Fender Stratocaster 60's reissue with upgraded electronics.

Is there somewhere I can plug in a serial number to find out more about the guitar?

60's Reissue and a '62 Reissue are vastly different guitars.

Fender serial numbers are found on the headstock of the guitar. Ask the seller to give you it so you can check it out on Fenders website or on the guitar dater project site.

It's a common question, he should just give you it.

Well..from what I can tell it isn't that smoking of a deal since it is MIM. It does play nice though.

It isn't quite what I thought it was. It is just like this guitar but with lace sensor pups and other upgraded electronics.

I bought it for $400, probably should have offered lower, oh well. It is really what I was looking for.

If you like the pickups, it's not a bad deal. I bought one just like it with stock gear in Seattle last year for $325 without the case. If you don't like the pickups, well...
Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster
Epiphone Sheraton II, Seymour Duncan Jazz and '59.
ESP Horizon NT II
Epiphone Les Paul Custom

Yeah pretty much this. ^

I don't really enjoy the Lace Sensors, but they sound really good...not my thing though. You could sell them pretty easily though and replace them for about the same price as buying a standard and swapping.

I would try to get him down to $400 though.

It's a good price, TS, especially if you like how it plays.
