Hi my names kayde and i am the lead guitarist/songwriter in the band FallenAngel [forbidden link]

My current rig that i use for gigs is as followed

Marshall mosfet lead 100 head (solid state) This is connected through stereo with marshall 1960a 300 watt cab

Boss gt-10 (this is used to add compression and reverb, delays etc. (i am using the boss with the FOUR CABLE METHOD.)

Now that fallen angel have a dded a bass player to the lineup i had to turn up my volume at the gig, the amp was on full but the boss output on a quater. ~The problem was when i turned up the output on the boss the sound became very muddy and crunchy.

I already had the boss before buying the head, i use the compression on the boss to drive the amp as my style is maily metal where as the amp is suited to rock, this gave me a nice sound of say a beefed up randy rhoads tone which is what i was aiming for however this is strictly on low to medium volumes.

I would like information on wheather it would be best to use other pedals if so which ones or ways i can tweak the gt-1o

Thanks Kayde Hill

what happens if you turn the amp down and turn the GT-10 up? Are you still getting a muddy sound?

do you do the no mids thing? if so then you're killing your sound. how loud is the bass player? perhaps getting a tube amp would help (you knew someone would say this).

Well TS is cranking the master vol on the amp and going low on the GT-10. So my guess is he is clipping the amp and we all know how that sounds with SS.

I have tried lowering volume on amp and turning gt10 up and its the same, i have turned down the mids and it dosent really make a diffrence, the bass isnt stupidly loud, we play live with backing tracks prevosly we were using vst bass sounds so the mix wasnt as thick hence the guitar bieng heard clearer now that we have a live bass the volume has to increase.

the amps distortion but that only reaches acdc type gain so i add compression from gt10 which seems to add . If you check this, get past the intro and you will here the tone i have at low volume. [forbidden link] its with no eq or proccesing just compression from gt 10

ok first let me say i liked the song. was expecting cookie monster death metal. your amp is solid state which when pushed to hard will sound like crap. i'd suggest running the amp clean and using your G10 for distortion. you can progam in seperate sounds for lead and rhythm and get more out of your G10. in the end a better amp is what you really need.

you might want to run a distortion pedal in front of the amp then. personally i like the EH Metal Muff. also keep in mind that the bass needs a spot in the mix and you don't need super thick guitar tone with it there. (see Valley Of Gwangi in my profile)

never ran in stereo so not sure about that. try it both ways and see what happens soundwise.

you should upload some of your tunes to your profile makes it easy for people to check them out here.
