Other guitarist in my group is hoping to pick up a new amp soon. After playing a VT22 in the studio he said he would certainly consider it if one popped up.

Low and behold good ole Craigslist has one, but the guy is asking for $1000 or best offer, which tells me with that high of a price he must not be willing to go too much lower than that.

Does that sound right, that doesn't strike me as a good price for those. I've seen old ampeg guitar amps go as high as 800. Is that too much?

Thanks

Another UG'er from the Boston area uses a V4, the head version of the VT-22, in his band. He loves it. I have a V2, 60 watt version of the V4, in the shop getting fixed up. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it.

no.

it just tells you he's listed it high.

way too high.

people that do that are either
1 - fishing for noobs to buy at a high price
2 - listing it that high because their wife said "sell it", and they have it listed stupidly high so nobody buys it.
3 - it's that high so he has room to come down bunches and make the buyer think they're really getting a good deal.
4 - it's probably 2.
5 - he's new to craigslist.

I don't think I've ever played anything in black walnut. It's a great ice cream flavor, so I assume it works well for a strat too.

The slugs in the pickups for telecasters are from old winchester rifles, which is why they sound so country.

$1000 is absurd. Depending on condition I wouldn't spend much more than $450 on a VT-22.

They are slightly overpriced on guitar center in my opinion.
