Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone know anything about the Aria Pro ii CT series. I have owned this guitar for about 18 years having bought it second hand.

I think it dates from the late 80s and I think its a UK model.

It has the reference CT-CT-3DBS on the base of the neck.

Its a green fading out to black paint job, 3 individual switches for the 3 pickups, tone and volume knobs.

I have recently starting learning to play guitar again after many years. Just wondered if this guitar is rubbish or considered decent for a beginner. Want a Les Paul eventually but can't afford it yet unless this guitar turns out to be rare. ( I know its highly unlikely with an Aria )

Cannot seem to find any info on these on the web. Looked at the archive catalogues etc. Found similar with a sliding 3 way switch but not the individual switches.

Got some photos of it but not sure how to attach them.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately that is my post. Asked the same question on a few forums last year to no avail.

Here are some photos.

Found this forum and it seemed to have more user so thought I would ask again.

I have found one picture with no information of a white identical model but thats it.

Somebody somewhere must have some info about this model. Should be happy that is so rare? Does this mean its worth some decent cash? Assuming I find someone who knows anything about it and wants desperately to buy it!

I have an Aria Pro II XR series, I believe. I remember that there was a web page where you could search for your serial number and it told you the age and shit like that, but I suspect it is long gone.

I'm not sure about the value, but I don't think they're too expensive, but don't take my word for it.

I am thinking the guitar is Korean since it doesn't have made in Japan or product of Matsumoku anywhere on the guitar.

The CT-CT-3DBS is not the serial number. Not really sure what the hell that is though. I'll do more research cuz now i want to fucking know.

Cheers guys,

I suspect you are right about it not being worth much MG.

Alucard, anything you can find would be great.

Found this though. Almost an exact duplicate of your original post. This one is almost a year old though.

Aria/Aria Pro II are one of the better kept secrets of the guitar world, for that reason they have a lousy resale value. Still I would rather own an APII than many of the newer guitars out today.

TS:
Are there any other identifiable markings?
Serial number?
Country of origin?
Have you ever tried to remove the neck and check the neck pocket?

I Have not removed the neck yet ( have a feeling I would never get the thing back on properly)

Took the cover plates off the back but there was no serial numbers there. So I am guessing that's it then.

Incidentally what does it cost to get someone to put a guitar back together and set it up/tune it after some idiot like me has taken it apart? The action is pretty good and it stays in tune and sounds alright so I don't really want to mess that up.

Neck is the easiest thing to take off and put back on, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't do it.

Only thing I have seen of these guitars puts them around 83-85.

Might have a go at removing the neck over the weekend if I get time. I bought it about 92-93 of my dad's mate for 50 quid with an amp. So it being a mid 80s guitar would make sense.

Will report back if I find any serial numbers and also probably blame you when my simple brain cannot comprehend putting it all back together!

Checked out this thread because I too have the Aria pro 2 "green sunburst" into black.
Owned it 18 years. Don't think it's worth a ton from a collector's standpoint but I will say this.
There is a reason that people want to buy this guitar. It plays slick and still does after all these years. Solid construction, attention to details, love the fine tuning screws and allen wrench lock downs. It's a kick "ars" guitar that has amazing sound. Aria was really trying to compete with the big boys in the mid 80s and came out with this bad boy. I would never sell it. Well, every thing has a price...and everyone ; - ) Rock on !

I had a blue Aria Pro II ZZ Deluxe when I was in high school back in the 80s, it was a damn nice guitar! I put a DiMarzio Tone Zone in it, I played that guitar for years but sold it when I got a 1991 Charvel Fusion custom.

I regret selling them both!
