i know they are expensive ... but since im only a bedroom appartment player .. i was thinking about the jvm 1 combo ( or head ) from marshall . from the youtube demo .. i think it sound really good like modern marshall .

i play punk rock .. so rythm palmuting . im only a bedroom .. every tube am i tried where beginning to sound when it was too loud .

this little beast sound good a 0.1 watt and 1 watt . i dont need more than this ..

any love for these little amp ???

its 800 $ for a 1 watt amp .. crazily overpriced probably .. but i can afford it without breaking the bank .

i dont use effect .. so multi effect are useless for me , i end up with tons of effect i dont use and 1 barely useable distortion . and the marshall high gain sound is hard to find .

i think that jvm sound very good .

They are just ok. You'll wish you spent your money on something else before too long.

Get something with a master volume and it will work much better for your apartment.

also just to mention, 1 watt is loud dimed, especially with the gain pushed up all the way. i don't know for sure but i think he was playing it louder than a typical apartment building (unless they are block/concerte walls).

you should be able to get it to sound good.

but mostly in my opinion, you can get more for your $$$$. i agree they are overpriced.

do you ever plan on playing out? if not then whats the problem with a multi fx? its much better than spending 800 bucks on something that will be loud as heck anyway and sound so so.

if i were you id look into something like an eleven rack, pod hd300/400/500 or perhaps some vst stuff on your computer.

if you have to have an amp
blackstar ht1/ht5
baron snot watt
engl gigmaster
hughes and kettner tubemeister

those would be much better sounding and more bang for your buck solutions.

Incorrect. If 1 watt is all you need then spend as much as you please getting it right.

However I wouldn't say that this is the way to go. Tiny Terror is probably better, hell even the Micro Terror might suit you fairly well if you pair it with a 1x12 instead of the 1x8.

'I am only a bedroom'

You trying to replace the oh-so-famous 'I am the table' ???

Also, if you like it, why should we tell you NOT to get it???

However, if you're looking at the 1w Marshalls... Maybe the JCM or DSL would be better suited for you???

Tried one, thought it sucked. For $800 it's a joke. I only tried the combo, and the small cab and speaker weren't doing it any favors, but there are so many good low-volume amps out there for less that I wouldn't ever consider buying one of these.

The Egnater Tweaker, Rebel 20/30, Orange Tiny/Micro/Dual/Dark/ExtraCheese Terror, Marshall DSL401, Studio 15, Mesa Express, Vox AC4/15, Night Train, Fender Vibro-Champ/ChampXD, etc etc are all good low-volume amps, and almost all of them are cheaper than the JVM-1. I'd pick any one of those over the JVM-1 any day of the week.

There's the soon to be released Marshall sl-5, which switches down to 1W mode. Might not be the sound you're after but is possibly more flexible and close to what you want?

I like the HT5 or Ht1 before the marshall one watts. There studio nice but not something to have just to have.

Shit check Stiff amps, Orange Terror series and Hughes and Kettner tubemiester series first. You get alot more for a lil more or less money depending on your needs.

thx guys .. mty question was more .. does it react like a real tube amp , cause so far im playing with my amp sim in my studio monitor and i havent been please with the result . ive had vox tonelab , roland micro cube etc .. they do ok at best .. but nothing like what im searhcing for .

i end up with 12 amps type and 60 effects i dont use .. but im still not please by the distortion sound .

thats why i was looking at the jvm 1 ... it really seem to have the sound im looking for at bedroom volume .

i dont know why you guys say its gonna be crazy loud at 1 watts ... ive had a phaez 5 watts and fully dimed it was loud but still playable without shaking the walls . .. so 1 watt should be fine and the 0.01 watts for late nite jamming .

i wanna know if it feel like a really tube amp i think thats what missing right now .. and the jvm has tons of gain which i found missed in the other jmp , jtm etc.. i tried . and these little night train , eganter etc.. all the demo seem to lack the aount of gain i need .

i think ill give it a shot . i can afford it .

Sounds like you've already made up your mind.

Sure it reacts like a tube amp. It is a tube amp. It just reacts like a crappy tube amp with too much compression and no headroom.

I got a used full stack Marshall Vintage Modern for that price. Ridiculous price for a 1-watt amp. Can't you get a used JVM 205 for that price?

Yeah you can if you dig deep. I think the only reason there that much is because they got all there flagships in a 1 watt format and made certain quanities of each one for a one time only deal.

But working retail and sales my entire working career. They will be back.......but in a 5 watt!!! OMG IT WILL BE GROUNDBREAKING AND TOTALLY DIFFERENT BECAUSE ITS 4 WATTS MORE POWER! (<still love this guy)

You could pick up a Peavey 6505+ combo for $500 and a THD hot plate for $200.

There, you just saved $100-$200 and got a much better sound.

while your point is made a 6505 might not be very good for punk - unless it's like powerviolence or hardcore or something

Ok, let's examine. You asked for opinions, got opinions from people who have used it and thought it sucked, and now you're going to buy it?

Why bother to ask?

Pretty clear you aren't particularly learned on the whole volume v. wattage thing either, but that's for another day.

If YOU like it, buy it, you don't need us to justify your purchase.

And just so you know, nobody here cares if you can afford it...

Why wouldnt the 6505 not be OK for punk? Their is a gain knob and tone knobs on that amp for a reason.....I'm confused!

ARBY :

relax dude , i was jsut asking for review and people who actually played the amp . cause i love the dmeo on youtube , but its marshall demo .. does it sound as good in the room , is it too loud .

the reason why i said i can afford it ... its because the comments are often : would be a great bedroom if it wasnt too expensive . or it look sweet but i dont have 800 $ to put on that . i was jsut saying that money is not the issue for me .

ill probably wait as my first thought when i got my studio monitors last year was to go modeler like axe fx , kemper etc ..

but that damn little amp has that marshally high gain sound i like . and it seem only marshall has that bite

Just get an Axe-Fx or Kemper instead. They're a million times better than that thing and they do the Marshall sound (and dozens of others) fabulously. Those 1 watt Marshalls are little more than a novelty, and there's no bigger falsehood these days than 'Only a Marshall sounds like a Marshall.'
