A sort of ironic folk song, quite recently finished.

Amongst the shops in the shopping arcade
Amongst the detritus of the modern age
Walks a youth with his head held high in the crowd
He's not as clever as he thinks and he is proud

But at least he cares
At least he gives a damn
He's the last of the pseudo intellectuals

He knows the length of the Mariana trench
He can say ''I hate you'' in french
He grows organic food to put in the compost
But he has something that most have lost

Though pretentious he may be
At least he's trying to see
He's the last of the pseudo intellectuals

He writes bad poetry but he writes it with a grin
He's heard of taste but thinks there's no such thing
His ridiculous sayings are carefully planned
He doesn't wear clothes from inferior brands.

But at least he cares
At least he gives a damn
He's the last of the pseudo intellectuals

his friends are all beggars and ex-cons
his jokes are borrowed from obscure sixties sitcoms
but the punch-line is all too easy to understand -
it won't be long before he is banned.

Though pretentious he may be
at least he's trying to see
He's the last of the pseudo intellectuals
The last of the pseudo intellectuals
the last of the pseudo intellectuals

I quite enjoyed this

Thanks (: The one line I wasn't sure of was 'his friends are all beggars and ex cons', what do you think?

Yea, I must agree with you. It feels a little out of place from the sketch of the character as i picture him... a bit too gritty maybe?
ambush is merely another name for Camping
