Put the Armin mod on it. Makes the combo version significantly better.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

So...

The amp bricked on me while I was cycling through the presets. I can't get it to do anything. I've tried running Line 6 Monkey to rewrite the flash memory. I get to the point where it wants me to press "Save" and start the factory reset, but it bricks after I press "Save" and won't do anything else. I'm at a loss.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this thing toast?

Sorry to hear that. It's happened to me before too which is why I gave up on it. The first thing I thought of was the Line6 Monkey tool but it looks like you've already tried that. Press 'save' and hold? Physical rest button (not sure if there is one). Take the fuse out and back in???

I'm using the M-Audio Midisport Uno. That's what's recommended.

Good news, friends!!!

After hours (literally) of troubleshooting, Google-ing, and uploading firmware over and over again--I finally got the amp to work again! I had to run a couple internal tests and have it reload some settings from the internal flash, then I was able to successfully upload the firmware. It works like a charm now.

cool

now you can do a clip comparison

or just run in stereo

I'd love to do a clip comparison, but I don't have any recording gear

If using the digital outs would give a good enough comparison, I can probably get to that sometime.

I love running it in stereo! I tried it this morning after reading your comment. Criminal from the Recto 212, Treadplate from the Vetta's speakers. It was nice.

I think he was talking about using the Vypyr and Vetta in stereo, but I bet it did sound pretty awesome through the two different sets of speakers.
