Greetings!!!

I purchased this SG when I was in my teens. I believe it's a '72 but I'm not positive. Can anyone confirm the actual year of my SG? Are the pickups on the guitar original? And finally, how much is my guitar worth if I were to sell it? Thank you.

Is there a serial? Any way you could take the pickups out and get a picture of the bottom?

I've never taken pickups out before. Do I just take out the 6 screws on the black thing and pull them out? Sorry for sounding like an idiot.

There is a serial number. It's 72199626

It's totally ok, there may be some folks on here who can identify them for you without going that far, but let me see if I can work something out with the serial.

Edit: here's Gibson's site for the serial:
http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Support/SerialNumberSearch/Default.aspx

So it looks to be July of '72 by that information.

I should also add that I'm basing this on the idea that it's a Gibson, though that truss rod cover may show otherwise. I see what looks like a faint "G" of the Gibson logo on the headstock, but it's pretty faint.

Thank you for the information. There is a Gibson logo on the headstock, but it is faint. I took off the truss rod cover, but it's just a hole underneath. Is there anything I should be looking for? Do you have any idea of the value of the guitar assuming it is a Gibson?

Did you use the guitar serial dater? I initially used that and came up with those results, but after checking Gibson's site, I came up with something else. Am I missing something in the Gibson site?

As far as the truss rod is concerned, there's not going to be much you can tell from that, aside from making sure the rod itself is functional.
To check the value, take a look at completed eBay listings, and then take it out for an appraisal at a guitar shop. Do you have the original Gibson case for it? Some collectors like to have that as well.

Who cares about originality that thing is sick. I think I just fell in love dude. How does it play? And literally the only that would make it cooler is a 400 style pickguard.

You should totally do me a solid and post more pics man. That thing is too freaking cool
