Difference is you have to deal with a bunch of buttons and menus with phones, computer, etc. You don't have to deal with that with guitars and amps (sorta)

Why does one have to obsolete the other?

When we got distortion, fuzz, and drive pedals, did 2 channel amps become obsolete?

While you guys argue about whether or not guitarists like going direct or not, and the sound differences, I'm going to enjoy my gear.

Even if I was to use a Kemper I'd still need a big power amp and a wall of speakers.

i think its a reality. with amps like the kemper and AX FX, definitely a possiblity and its only going to get better and better.

soon an amp like the kemper will be 400 bucks and become the norm. if i could have a kemper and money was no object i would be all over it.

i think amps are easily going to become obsolete....cabs? different story. how do you put sound waves into the air any better than a 12 inch speaker?

I don't think they'll ever be obsolete. You can't get the same sound with a computer than you can with a tube amp, a pedal, and guitar. They'll never be obsolete because the possibilities in new sounding pedals will never dry out. No one will ever not be curious to see what they can do. Just putting in my two cents here. Have a nice day
#62
Nonsense. Pedals are the saving grace of guitar music. It has made the guitar the most versatile instrument (arguably).

Modelling is a cheap alternative mostly. On the expensive end, does the AXE FX delay sound better than the Moog Delay? I don't think so.

That's all that matters.

can someone go ahead and just lock this thread? TS made this thread just to either troll or start and argument and this thread most likely will turn into one.

Look dude, if you don't want to send Sandra a picture of your weiner then that's fine, no one is going to make you, but don't ruin it for the rest of us.
