In my experience, women, but I doubt there is a huge gap

Like others have said, girls seems to buy a lot of relatively cheap things while guys buy fewer but more expensive things.

Yeah, women definitely spend more money on clothes than men. In fact, the only clothing items I own are a pair of boxers, an undershirt and one sock. I've had them since I was 9. I never buy clothes because of my penis, that's the only factor that I consider when it comes to money management.

You guys must dress like plebs, I buy clothes all the time.
I would say, when it comes to spending, it's up to the individual and there really isn't gender lines in this like there is in intelligence and stuff.

I spend a lot of money on myself...
Although I've never sat down and compared how much I spend on myself with that of a girls spending

If you just look at the basic 'needs' for each gender both would spend roughly the same in grooming, clothing, entertainment etc. because these things aren't gender specific, both genders need these things and things like entertainment are preference, not gender.
The only thing women would need is tampons though, men need to shave a lot more (assuming they don't have a big bushy metal beard) than women shave their 'areas' since it's more noticeable when they don't meaning they would go through way more razors. So really even here, they spend around the same amount.

Even high maintenance of each gender wouldn't be much different since it's becoming more socially acceptable for guys to do lady things like wear fake tan and spend 2 hours in the bathroom. Both genders have a huge amount of stupidly expensive clothing shops...It's still probably about even.

This was probably a better question back in the 90's when people still feared gays.
When I was eleven I broke the patio window and my mother sued me... She's always been a very aggressive litigator.

Given what I spend on guitar stuff, computer stuff, vidya games, books, movies, and food I'd say I easily spend much more than most of my friends that are girls.

I'd say men and women spend about the same amount, but men are more likely to buy over-inflatedly expensive things, whereas a woman will buy lots of smaller things. Like, a man will spend time researching the best headphones and then buy a £40 pair; a woman will buy some £5 gumis and then spend twenty on clothing and then a DVD or make-up or smellies and shit.

Yeah, I'm sure women aren't capable of researching headphones. Only men can be audiophiles, after all.

Man, I should stop posting, this is embarrassing for my men's rights crusade reputation.

If I weren't good at managing my finances, I'd easily be spending more on clothing and accessories than a lot of girls I know. This thread is stupid.

also buying a boat is the dumbest **** thing you can do when you can save just a little more and buy a plane
#54
buying a boat and then registering it as a second home would save you some cash on taxes.

That's not what I said...

And why buy a plane or a boat when you could buy a time machine?

It depends on the person. My girlfriend spends money like it's her job (although she makes quite a bit, so it's okay), but my sister has like $1k in her bank account and is saving for a car. She's 13.

I'm not terrible with money, I save when I need to but when I really want something I don't mind shelling out a little extra for it. My brother spends money the instant he gets his hands on it, while my dad is probably one of the more frugal people I've met.

So, I'd say it averages out to be close to equal. We just spend money on different things.
