Hey...i am new and have a question. What do you think would be the more versatile for playing clean, rock and metal with a bright ash tele? Tone zone? Dominion? air zone? Which one does the best split sound? Which one is the tightest? Etc
Cheers

subscribed to this yesterday in the hope that someone else who knew more than me might help, but apparently not, so I'll do my best.

I haven't tried the dominion (this is going well, lol).

In some ways, the tone zone is pretty versatile- it's very dark-sounding, so that can suit older-style overdrives quite well (as well as the heavier, more modern tones which it excels at). However, it's also pretty hot, and the darkness can be overbearing unless it's either a very bright guitar, or you like dark tones. It also tends to make it work better for lead than rhythm.

Do you play equal amounts of clean, rock and metal? Which amp(s) are you using?
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

The amp is really the determining factor here, I think. What are you playing through?

Yes i play equal amount of clean, rock and metal. Just want a versatile set that splits well, with a decent clean sound and with a tight bass when playing metal. Thought this two buckers could be a good choice

thanks

i'd say even the tone zone would be too hot for that, really. air zone would be better, but i haven't tried it and don't know how much lower in output it actually is than the tone zone.

paf pros might be worth a look (but might be too bright). norton too (but i haven't tried it, i'm just assuming it'll do what you want) and breed maybe. if you want to stick to dimarzio.
