I just got my Classic Vibe 60s today and I am having issues with it. When I play the Neck/Middle, Middle, and Middle/Bridge pickups, I get a very dim and quiet sound. The Bridge and Neck pickups are much louder. There is also some serious buzz on the G string near the bridge. I was disappointed when I came across this because I heard so many good things about this guitar. Is this just a dud because I want to exchange it for another if this is just a bad I got?

It probably needs some set up. Try raising the middle pick up. For the G string, raise that saddle a bit. Your saddles should more or less follow the radius of the fretboard.

If you just bought it, I'd suggest giving it back to the store to set up. That's usually free with a purchase. As frustrating as it may be to give up your new guitar for a few days, it's either that, suffer with it, or learn how to do all that yourself. There are plenty of references online.

neck/middle and middle/bridge should be a bit quieter, that's normal (but "very dim and quiet" isn't).

the middle shouldn't be much quieter. are all the pickups at the same height?
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Sounds like there might be a wiring problem on that mid pickup. I wouldn't mess around with it too much, no sense voiding the warranty trying to fix something. If it's new, take it back to the shop.

^ oh yeah, it goes without saying that if you have something new that you absolutely don't void the warranty. Take or send it back. However, if it's too much both to take/send it back, and you think it might be an easy fix, you could email the shop you bought it from to check that attempting that easy fix won't void your warranty.

I didn't mess with the pickup height. They don't appear to be the same height.

Unless the middle pickup is drastically lower, it wouldn't cause this problem.

Can you tell us some more about where you got this? Local shop or online? New or used?

Sorry, I should have included that in the original post. I got it online from Guitar Center brand new.

Do you live near a GC? If you take it in to a store they'll take a look for you and get you a return if you need it. The string buzz thing is probably just a setup issue, more or less to be expected with a new guitar, but the pickup issue might be worth refunding or exchanging.

yeah. i figured it was just worth mentioning, just in case.

but yeah if it's new and within warranty take it back and see what they say.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just got in touch with my local GC and they said they were going to take a look at it.
