Is it possible for a right handed person to play a left handed guitar?

I have a right handed guitar and I'm a beginner. It feels weird to fret with my left hand and strum with my right...so I flipped my guitar to "lefty" and it feels more comfortable. (of course I don't play my guitar backwards) lol

I feel like I have better control of the strings if I use my right as a fret hand.

Are left handed guitars hard to find?

Yes it is possible. No they are not hard to find, though they are more rare than right handers.

Jimi Hendrix famously played a right handed strat flipped and strung upside down so he could play leftie.

The whole guitar feels weird when you're starting out. IMO you should try sticking with it. Picking is also a frequent bottleneck, so I'd want it to be my dominant hand.

Hell, there are guys who play flipped guitars upside down.

Jimi actually bothered to flip the nut and restring it normally, but guys like Albert King, Dick Dale, and Otis Rush all play the guitar totally upside down. In fact, I remember reading something about how it wasn't really an uncommon thing back in the day. Everybody thought it was weird that Jimi restrung his the right way. Just some food for thought.

Having said all that, I would probably just stick to right handed playing, as there are far more options for right handed guitars than there are for left.

This. I've said it before and I'll say it again: nothing about playing guitar is natural for a human being, stick with doing things the normal way and in time it'll feel so natural you'll wonder why you even thought about doing it any other way.

Oh I didn't know that!

Well, I suppose I can play right handed first, then if it still feels odd, I'll try left.
