Anyone got or had a go on one? Opinions please.

Great looking guitars, giving me GAS.

Signature guitars are generally sub-par and extremely overpriced. If you're a super fan and want it for collecting purposes (and have plenty of money) I'd say go for it, otherwise...

This particular guitar is actually very, very good spec-wise.

Eh, I looked it up, it's not as bad as other signatures, but it's a bit pricy, imo. Should have a Floyd Rose Original for $900, though, Jackson.

It has custom Dimarzio's made specifically for that guitar though. Custom made pickups are pricey. Still, it is a sig guitar, so naturally it will cost more, but nothing about the specs makes me get angry that they're selling it for $900 when that is considered.

Speaking of the custom pickup, those are pretty sketchy. They're made perfectly for Chris Broderick, but that doesn't mean anyone else will like it! Pickups custom made for another person aren't the best idea in the world.

The subjective part IS the problem :P I'm saying that without testing a pickup to see if you like it, just because another guitarist uses it, doesn't mean you will inherently like it. ESPECIALLY pickups custom made for the person, because it's individually made for THEM, we all have a differing subjective preferred sound, and another person's tailor made sound isn't necessarily going to mesh well with your own, it's possible it will, but still.

It's like the Dimebucker, might have been great for Dimebag Darrel, but they seem to get rather bad reviews, even avid pantera fans have disliked them.

You're going to take that risk whatever guitar you buy with pickups that one is not familiar with. Dime's tone was always terrible imo, but Broderick's sound is very stereotypically modern and compressed, so it's a different ballgame.

Based on an educated guess, I would say that they're probably similar to Dimarzio D-Activators. I've seen interviews of Chris discussing his pickup set being made for him and initially he questioned if it was even necessary as he already really liked D-Activators. It's a fair assumption that these custom pickups are within the same ballpark.

I've not seen one in person. The Floyd shouldn't be an issue -- the Specials will outlast most guitar players.

I'm not sure what's outstanding about the specs, though. Black or white color, Jumbo frets, 24-fret 12" radius no-inlay fretboard, neck-through guitar. The Koreans, Indonesians and Chinese are churning similar guitars out for a couple of hundred bucks with brandnames like SX and Douglas. What, specifically, do you like about the specs on these?

I'm not a super fan, I like the shape a lot and the specs look decent to me for the price.
I was hoping someone may have played or seen one for an opinion.

A lot of negative stuff about a guitar people haven't even seen.

I think sig. guitars are a waste. Except maybe the JP-7s.

Dime never ever played the Dimebucker. He used Bill Lawrence pickups.
Dimebuckers are just commercial pieces of crap where they put the name Dime on to sell better. Just like those Dime amps...

What about Ibanez Satriani and Vai signature models? Do you think that they are a waste too?
