I know it is probably not the most popular guitar around here, but I had been jonesing for a Tele. I like bluesy classic rock, and when I start noodling around that is what comes out of my guitar. I wanted something with a bit of bite to it, and figured I would roll the dice on a Tele. I was looking for an MIM, but ran across a CV Tele Custom on Craigslist. It was about a 2 hr drive away, but the guy was willing to hold it for me. I only paid $225 for it and it is in mint condition.

I am in the process of putting a rig back together and don't even have an amp right now. However, I got a few minutes with it through a friend's 5150. It sounds like a Tele, just like it is supposed to. I have been playing it for about 3 hrs straight, and I am very pleased with how it plays. Neck and fretboard feel very good. No fret-sprout and they look level and even. Fit and finish is awesome and the neck is tight and stable. IMO, this is not far off from at least MIM quality.

As for mods, I am going to swap the pups, maybe a Dimarzio Chopper and Area-T, but I think I want to try the GFS Vintage Lil' Punchers. Other than that, I don't have any other mods I would want to do to it.

If only I had an excuse to get more teles.

Anyway, it looks awesome! I wish I could find classic vibe teles that cheap. They're all $300 around here.
HNGD, and may it bring you the blues...in a good way.

Very nice! IMO the classic vibe tele is the best bang for your buck guitar on the market

Any of the CV's I see for sale around here go for about $300. Used MIM's are ridiculous in my area. Usually $400+ for one that is pre-2006 with the older electronics. That is why I jumped at it when I saw it.

I met the seller at Guitar Center. I passed him the cash and he went right in and bought himself a Breedlove acoustic / electric.

Classic Vibes are probably the best value for money guitars out there. I love mine, and I gig with it all the time. HNGD, have fun with it!

I saw in a couple of pictures that on Bucketheads Les Paul (only some pictures) that his neck pickup is painted in white. Can anyone explain to me why he would do this, and if there are any pros and cons.

The guy wears a KFC Bucket and a white mask during performances, and you're interested in the color of his pickup covers?

Love these things.

If I upgrade to a stacked rail humbucker, what pot value should I use? 250 or 500? These things apparently have a habit of losing the neck pup and pots, and I just want to be prepared.
