Magic Circle are a Boston based doom metal band consisting of members of prominent hardcore bands in the scene. Their debut self titled album dropped early in 2013.

and. it. kicks. ass.

Magic Circle continue on the path of Lord Vicar and present us with nothing but the truest of doom true to the roots that Iommi planted. The album has some low points but overall I'd say it's a very strong debut and I'm looking forward to what this band can do in the future.

Pretty good. Gotta love local bands too, Boston's doom scene has been severely lacking. Check out Ice Dragon, another sick Boston Doom band, The Burl, The Earth, The Aether is a killer album.

I'm from the suburbs and I go to school in Boston. I've heard of Ice Dragon, I'll check them out though.

Anywhere I can find out when bands like this are playing?

I'm quite sure I said this in some other thread earlier, but anyway, I have mixed feelings about this record. There is plenty of potential here, but not all of it is realized. Every now and then the songs start to drag a bit. The vocals are killer throughout.

That being said, The Greatest Escape / White Shores is incredibly good. If only the whole album was of that quality, I would count it among the best of the year.

Really can't get into this at all, much prefer their side project Stone Dagger. The vocals just aren't clicking with me...

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

Cheers for the heads up! This sounds fucking amazing.

Yes, better than Magic Circle.

Stone Dagger are excellent, but I really liked Magic Circle's debut effort. There's obviously a slight home town bias, but I think the record definitely had its moments. Some of the songs are a bit too long; however I love the vocals and his approach to them. That's the wonderful thing about metal though; different strokes for different folks and all that jazz.

Yup. They've all been in a bunch of Boston hardcore bands. Mind Eraser might be the most familiar for people on here. The bassist is the guy behind Innumerable Forms.
