im supposing you are speaking of a footswitch. in this case I would start soldering onto the middle pin, then work my way through the pins around it careful not to burn anything. Id use a small gauge solid core wire and cut off insulation just enough to wrap around once on the pin. again careful to burn the least amount of wire and assuring none of the pins are shorting with each other. too much solder is a nono.

thats about all I can think of.

This, but I would use a 22 gauge stranded wire. Teflon coated if you can get it.

My approach is:
1. Strip the insulation back about 1/4 - 1/2 inch.
2. Tin the exposed wire, keeping the strands tightly wrapped.
3. Using tweezers or needle nose pliers, bend loop 180 degrees with the tinned wire.
3a. Alternative is to use a normal round wooden toothpick to make that 180 degree bend. This is actually my preferred method as it won't nick and of the wire strands.
3b. Bend at a point where the insulation is about 1/8 inch or so from the switch tab when it is attached.
4. Snip excess tinned wire length so that the end is at about the point where the insulation ends.
5. Insert wire into the holes in the tab.
6. Give the wire a little squeeze to sort of clamp it onto the switch tab.
7. Solder away.

There are loads and loads of soldering tutorials on youtube and elsewhere.

yes, teflon is probably the best wire to use for these projects. no worries about melting insulation with this.
