what is the best way for me to warm up. I have tried stretching but that has just made my fingers more tense (turns out that its bad to stretch before exertion). is there any dynamic warm ups.
Theory is just...wow. I'm getting a bit over my head by trying to learn so much w/o formal educators

Nowadays I just warm up with a few songs or jams. If I'm having a REALLY off day I'll go up and down the fretboard doing the one from that second video.

And yeah. Don't 'stretch' your fingers or over exert them before playing. You just want to re-accustom yourself with having your hand around a long piece of wood

This exercise is really helpful for building speed and accuracy

I would do the first one but instead of changing strings, start on the high E at the first fret and work your way down the fret board till your pinky reaches the 12th fret. Then work your way backwards till you reach the 1st fret with your index finger. After you're done with the high E go to the B string, then G, then D, then A, then low E.
If that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll tab it out for you.

Both of those links are broken.

TS I would suggest just playing something that's really easy and that you're very familiar with. The key is really just to not overexert yourself and get yourself back in to the swing of playing. Essentially that's what I do; play something slow and easy to get my fingers working, doesn't usually take more than 5-10 minutes even on a bad day.
