I noticed that the older thread for this has kind of died, so I figured I could do this on a fairly regular basis.

I'll do quite a few reviews of tonight, and probably about 5 per day after that.

I'm a published writer and I've been playing music for about ten years now. Disclaimer, just for your sake: I prefer metal to other genres, but I do enjoy other genres. I'll just be able to pick out particularities in metal easier.

Rules:

I don't require a facebook page, just a place I can hear your music.

One to three songs. Any more than that just takes up too much time and isn't going to be feasible for me.

No re-posts. I will go in a linear order and will get to you eventually.

Alright, if you want your music reviewed, just post here!

Vandermark is one of those rare acts that can be both nostalgic and completely fresh simultaneously. When I clicked on the "play" button for their first song, "Viper Pit", my mind immediately went to Underoath. Its' harsh vocals, odd phrasing and ambient instrumental vibe are very similar to something Underoath would do. However, once the singing began, the comparisons ended. Vandermark's singer is not a high tenor as is typical of their genre. He's an ear-pleasing baritone who, although typically sticking with a lower range, does have the capability of reaching higher notes.

The second song, "Watershed", is a piano-driven song with some percussion, but it's the vocals that really drive this song. Vandermarks' singer really shines on this track, showing genuine emotion not typically found in a band within their genre.

If you like Underoath, Rise Against, or Incubus, you'll enjoy Vandermark, as I do. This band is easily above average.

Hey man, here's my latest solo album, would appreciate a review.

http://charliemunro.bandcamp.com/album/maverick

10 tracks are there, for the purposes of the review just consider tracks 1, 2 and 5.

Thanks!

Why?

Afraid someone will steal it and make millions off of your genius?

Here is my lovechild, Duskmortym, and the first cd: One Night Over the Baltic... It's symphonic black metal with a lot of the older catchier thrash bits, and eerie synth.
