Err, vocals are killer.
False, the music is absolutely ridiculous though, and it's amazingness is helping me warm up to it a little bit.

Why do people hate on any vocals that are even slightly nasally? I've come across this with both Pagan Altar and Manilla Road and it blows my mind.

The vocals on Manilla Road are good, the vocals on Pagan Altar are bad.

so Pagan Altar's vocals are too nasally, but these aren't?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWvQVln9fAU

For me, it isn't just the nasally sound, it's the way Terry's voice sounds coupled with the nasally sound. It's absolutely terrible. I guess I shouldn't say the vocals on Manilla road are "good", they aren't bad, but they're okay. On par with Pagan Altar's vocals on Volume 1, better than later albums. Something about Volume 1 is just a little less bad to me.

Also, Manilla Road's vocals vary, they get better from time to time, Pagan Altar's are always bad

Ironic Maiden, I take it you hate Pat Walkers' vocals too?

I'm not going to say "ever since he left the band", but yeah, they detest each other these days.

That's funny, there's a plethora of bands/people he hates and fights with on certain other forums I frequent. If he didn't play guitar in Solstice and Isen Torr I'd say he was a bit of a tool..

That's strange because I find his vocals (on Watching From A Distance specifically) to be the epitome of annoyingly nasally, and harder to get into than PA. Get your priorities straight. I don't see how you can love Warning muppet vocals while hating Pagan Altar muppet vocals.

Having said this, the vocals on Watching From A Distance perfectly compliment the music and work to its advantage.

Because like I said, it's not about how nasally it is, I don't really know how to describe it well.

But Warning was actually one of the first Doom bands I got into

Sounded great! Pretty much standard Pagan Altar, which is by definition excellent.

I'm currently in the middle of learning The Black Mass half by ear and half by reference videos. There really should be more Pagan Altar tabs as Alan's guitar leads are by far the single best thing about the band.

Before Terry Jones died, Pagan Altar put a track from the (at the time) forthcoming album called Dance of the Vampires.

Looks like it was removed from youtube now... did any of yous happen to download it?

Not I.

But all hail Pagan Altar. Some of the most torch fueled and honest magic out there in the world of Metal. Endlessly spinning Lords of Hypocrisy and Mythical & Magical. Keep it true.

Thanks man! That's it. I thought I found it on that site yesterday, but it didn't load.

^ VG, anything you can describe as torch-fueled or torchlit has got to be good. I keep those two albums and Vol 1 in the rotation.

Unfortunately the rumor is that the new tracks will not be released.
