Seens Kyuss Lives! a few months back. They were really good. They Played all the best stuff. The new guitarist did an amazing job, so hats off to him. I've probably listened to them to death now though. What I like about them is the recording quality - deep guitars with the high cut off so Brants cymbals shine through. If only more bands cut off horrible distortion highs.

I really like the fact that they didn't compress the living shit out of everything, it preserved the dynamics of their sound they had going on. Sure, you have to crank the volume more to compensate for the lack of compression, but that's fine, because loud is the only volume at which Kyuss should be listened to...

^^I disagree, loud is not the correct volume, way too loud is.

I take it back.

October 2. Kyuss Lives and The Sword.

holy shit yes

are the sword touring with them? I saw the Sword with Metallica and they were amazing, I got tickets to Kyuss in November, Scott better not fcking go to jail before then is all I have to say. I tried to travel across the continent to see Kyuss but couldn't make it, now they are coming to my home town and I will die happy if they just show up and play a killer set. I want to hear

-Demon Cleaner, Molten Universe, Whitewater, Space Cadet, Asteroid, Gardenia, Thumb, One Inch Man, Hurricane and Writhe. If they play half of those I will be happy.

This could be the second best show of my life(behind Tool of course) if Scott stays out of jail, god damnit I will be pissed if I get screwed again from seeing Kyuss. I saw Qotsa in the summer and really don't care if Homme isn't with them, he's not into hard rock anymore so it doesn't matter.

^They played all of those except One Inch Man, Writhe and Whitewater when I saw them (if I remember correctly.)

I don't think you need to worry about Scott. He doesn't seem like the kind of person who would go to jail...

Lol, nope. They let Nick take off the ankle bracelet for my show. Scott's only playing the shows outside the US because Nick's not allowed to leave the country, court orders or something...

Played all but Demon Cleaner and Space Cadet when I saw them.

's been ages since I last listened to Wretch, only thing by this lot that instantly struck me as shit and stayed that way every time I tried getting into it. They disowned it for a reason.
If I took this cigarette and put it out on you...

Ive been meaning to listen to Kyuss for a long time.

Should I get Blues for the Red Sun first?

can't go wrong with Blues, but most ppl (me included) rate Sky Valley as their best.

I guess I'll leave this here

My top albums:
1. Blues
1. Kyuss
3. Circus
4. Muchas
5. Wretch
6. Sons

I tied Blues and Kyuss because they both have their high points. Blues had a huge impact, Kyuss had better songs. Circus is 3 because it is good, but not their best work. Muchas was fourth because it had some great songs and some bad songs. Overall it just felt like an afterthought. Wretch would be higher than Muchas if it didn't have the Sons songs on it. It sounds like two different albums imo. Sons is what Josh Homme was talking about when he said in an old interview about the desert parties where he said that "You [couldn't] suck." It's pretty bad the whole way through, but still worth a listen if you like Kyuss.

My top 10 Kyuss songs to listen to (in no order):
1. Writhe
2. Freedom Run
3. Hwy 74
4. Asteroid
5. Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop
6. Space Cadet
7. Whitewater
8. Spaceship Landing
9. Fatso Forgotso
10. Green Machine

I know I picked a lot of underrated songs... I didn't really deliberately do that, it's just that I listen to these songs the most. Honorable Mention would be Gloria Lewis.

Little anecdote: Before I listened to Spaceship Landing I thought it was actually a 34 minute epic... I was a bit disappointed when I actually took the time to listen to it.

Just a little introduction to a dead thread.

Green Machine is such an awesome song. It makes you wanna roll the top down and drive 90 miles per hour through the desert.

Where's Sky Valley on your list? For me, it's between that and Blues for best Kyuss album. Having said that, every album has at least one killer tune on it.

I'll be seeing these guys in less than a week and I'm stupidly keen. It'll be their last show as Kyuss Lives! too, so hopefully they might bust out something special.
