I'm not really either, but I've really got into Dismember in a big way. Not sure why Entombed are held in higher regarded because Entombed's Debut is one of the most boring albums I've EVER listened to.

I may have to, probably wont listen to any ABR though, apparently I don't even own the best album so I'm kinda screwed.

I have the majority of ABR's discography on my computer and I've only listened to Constellations and Carol of The Bells. Need to go over that shit.

Chemical, have you listened to Kataklysm's debut?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE5tS5UtJLI

Think you may like that.

EDIT: Is there a reason why 'The Crack From Which Gold Pours' wasn't put on an album? That's such a good song!

It's on their first ep which theyve said in interviews was horrible haha. They went above and beyond on thrill seeker only a year after.

Touring Aus with blessthefall and Northlane in April. Works for me. Never even listened to btf, but Northlane's new album smashes kittens and ABR are fun as all hell live.

Saw these guys yesterday. They put on a really good show, but all the hardcore dancer kids kinda ruin it...

Nah, I'm agreeing that hardcore dancers ruin shit.

Yeah, I'm actually gonna take back what I said earlier. Hardcore dancing is for pussies. Kids at the show I went to with Silverstein didn't even know what a circle pit was.

Saw these guys about 6 months ago for the first time, and I caught Matt's drum stick at the end.

I saw ABR with Silverstein back in February and pretty much died. I've never been swept off my feet so many times by giant mobs of hardcore kids that weigh 200+ pounds and all wear bro tanks. They were phenomenal though, it was my second time seeing them.

I liked the first single. It was better than the last albums best track.

Always loved me an odd meter breakdown. Hope the new album doesn't dissappoint when I get around to buying it :P

IMO, Constellations is still their best album. R&R is a step in the right direction from Leveler, and it's certainly a more creative effort all-around. Still think some of the more memorable catchy riffing styles from their earlier albums are sacrificed on the new one in favor of branching out into new genres.

Album is pretty decent. ABR is getting close to being Alaska-era BTBAM, which will be nice when they get there. Still moving in the right direction, but not quite there yet.

WAIT, WUUT??

Apparently I need to listen to this old album... and the last one apparently. Why haven't I listened to the last one yet? I bought it the day it came out.

The impression I got from Leveler was that ABR wanted to be BTBAM but they're still too confined in that shitty metalcore niche. I mean, listening to a few songs from the new album, and stuff like Internal Cannon from Leveler, it's fairly obvious that's where they're going.

I wish they would get someone who could sing. Maybe they would just end up blending into the rest of the progressive metalcore scene, but I dunno.

I could see that, but they still reuse a lot of the same structure from their old stuff.

ABR obviously has a pretty big BTBAM influence, but they have way too much of a generic modern mainstream-ish "metalcore" sound (I mean, they're way better than most bands with that sort of sound, but still) coming out in their music. And I only listened to the last album a couple of times and only thought it was okay at best, and I'm not that familiar with their stuff overall, but iirc their older stuff was closer to sounding like the heavy parts of BTBAM's more metalcore-ish days.

I actually like the new album after not caring for much of their other stuff

Don't really get the BTBAM comparisons though...

About halfway through the album so far and it's solid, I guess. The guitars are sorta BTBAMish in parts but that's about it for that comparison. Though sometimes the guitars are all that really keep me interested in this album at all. It's nice that they're incorporating more out-of-genre elements too, but I wish they'd be less obvious about it than using orchestral strings (the vibraphone or whatever it is behind the end chorus of "Creative Captivity" is pretty damn cool though).
