It annoys me when people say that they're not original. They're not trying to, they're like Municiple Waste - just want to have a great time playing Thrash.

http://www.metal-mayhem.co.uk/interviews/evile.html

we've managed to be influenced by all these older bands yet still craft something that sounds like EVILE, no matter who says we sound like whoever!

I would think that means they are trying to be original, if they want to make their own individual sound.
Quote by Ultraussie
I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

They aren't very innovative I admit .

But hey they sound almost excactly like good old 80s beer drinkin thrash!
And damn that **** was the best. They're pure thrash not just another Thrash/Hardcore/Prog/Classical/Nu-metal/Lullaby/Christmas Carol/Pop/Death Metal/Penis Hybrid like most of the bands today.

And they're riffs are pretty f*ckin awesome as well.

i am actually lolling right now!!! lmao!

If you were there in the mid eighties then there was a LOT of **** thrash coming out. Some of it was **** because of production and some of it was just ****. Evile's album is better then a lot of the stuff that came out of the original thrash scene. It's not as good as the best but for gods sake it's their first ****ing album.

If you can go and see them live and not leave with a smile on your face then you've forgotten what metal is about. Like Municipal Waste they put on a good show and that's worth a lot in my book.
#44
^^ I really want to see Municipal Waste so bad. I watched one of their vids and stage jumpers/crowd surfers were using actually bodyboard to surf the crowd - it looked immense.

hm, i think its kinda funny how alot of people bitch about unoriginality for other bands, yet kinda excuse it so horribly here

I've seen plenty of people cry about unoriginality from the whole new-school thrash movement. They're not trying to be original and they know it, they're just trying to play some thrash.
#50
Yeah, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be docked for being a copy cat band. Every band is perfect in the smallest scope. You could say that Cryptopsy's new album is a masterpiece (It's perfect deathcore with the right number of breakdowns/ the clean singing gives it an epic feel) while in a broader context it's abosolute ****. A band that mixes happy Power Metal and raw Black Metal would be atrocious, but if you looked at it within the scope of the mixing of those two genres, you couldn't dock points for the horrible clashing of sounds (which we both know is guaranteed) Anyway, even though they're near clones they still DESTROY the majority of the new thrash movement, so i have to give them some credit.

#51
The way I always saw it was that if a band makes music that I like, as long as they aren't blatantly stealing riffs from other bands, I'll still listen regardless of originality.
#52
Of course, but that doesn't mean that they don't loose points for originality.

I'm definitely seeing them on Gigantour with 'Deth and JFAC.

So, guess what? I didn't go!

Anyway, can't wait for their new album to arrive, Posty has been telling me it's going to have a more Deathrash edge to it. Brutal.

I'm still pissed off though that my original Evile thread has died away and this one *spits on the ground* has taken its place.

Considering how little their sound changed in the 3-4 years since their first release to the release of their debut album, TBH I doubt it'll sound any different. Variety really isn't one of Evile's strong points.

Still, they do what they do so well I'm prepared to put aside originality.
#56
That's my reason for liking them. Still, why didn't they put Dawn of Destruction on Enter the Grave!?

There are so many better new-old-school thrash bands than this one. I would personaly compare them to the colour beige, both in terms of the tediousness of their music and the numbing effect they have on my mind whenever I hear them.

Did it leak? I wasn't a fan of the songs they already released, but I figure it'll still be worth a listen.

I believe it's out today. Not expecting anything mindblowing, but hopefully it'll be a good listen.

You've no idea how good it is. People don't realise we've been playing "old" songs since 2004, and since before grave was released we basically had 9/10 songs, mostly being able to play just 4 or 5 of them a night.

The annoying thing about this is that:

A- They're lying, there are about 7 or 8 songs on their demos that never made it on Enter The Grave.

B- Most of those songs are BETTER than the ones on Enter The Grave.

the new album is killer

Can't believe how dead this thread is, Evile kick ass! Saw them last night at rock city, they put on an amazing show. And they played a brand new track which isn't even finished yet, it sounded pretty awesome.

Lol I saw them last wednesday at the Academy 3 in Manchester they were awesome, and were cool about stage dives and stuff which is good. Btw what did they call the new song, with us they called it Bitch at first but then after some heckling it got renamed cockballsbitch****er or summat like that lol.
#72
Yeah, I like them too. Stuff like Enter the Grave and Blitzkrieg are great. My only beef with them is that they sound quite a bit like Slayer.

Aye I was there too. Seemed a decent enough track. Especially given it wasn't finished.

The vocals seem so influenced by Chuck Billy.

Yeah, I agree. They sound like a mix between Testament and Slayer.

I was watching a video of them playing in some rehearsal space and it reminded me of how much I enjoy Evile I don't listen to as much thrash as I used to, but I really do love this band. Was really sad to hear about Mike passing, it was so sudden, and a bit chilling to find out the last song he played on with them was their cover of 'Cemetery Gates'.

Still haven't listened to the new album yet, but after reading you guys comments will definitely check it out.
