Finally got my IRT60h on Wednesday...

I can't seem to make it sound bad at all, no matter what setting I randomly dial in.

Safe to say, it is a keeper, and I am now part of the brotherhood

Bask in my presence haha

Still got that AOR I traded with you from years ago.

Glad to see you're still a Laney guy.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Guys, so there's buzzing when I turn on my Phaser and Flanger in the FX loop of my Laney, but in front it's fine... What gives? (Using a Dreamscape and Small Stone... Should I get my FX loop looked at?)

Not sure. the other guys will know better than me but some analogue pedals don't really like to be in loops. it might just be that.

You should do what you're supposed to do and put the phaser and flanger in front of the amp like a real man.

Thought Phasers and Flangers were time based/modulation effects?

^is every device connected to the amp on the same mains line? Sometimes one room may have two outlets on different mains or with mains wiring messed up between the two. See if you can power all the stuff from the same outlet using an extension box.

Failing that, check the cables, if one of them loses its ground on a plug then buzz occurs. Check the patch cables too.

If all checks out ok then it can be the tube, if it has a tube driven fx loop or something wrong inside the amp.

They're modulation, with them you pretty much can do either depending on which you think sounds better.

Hey fellas, I just joined the Laney Club for the first time! I picked up a Laney GH100L and I'm really digging it. I posted a thread in Amp forum regarding some questions I had about it, but I figured I might post them here, too (you never know, some people might not see the one post or the other).

I'm looking for preamp tube, speaker, and drive control info mainly. Instead of rehashing it, ere's a link to the aforementioned post.

Thanks guys!

I keep thinking that I should buy another AOR, but every time I buy an amp that is supposed to be similar to a JCM800 I remember that I don't actually like that sound really

I do miss the absurd amount of low end that thing had with the bass boost on. It was pretty much unusable but still fun.
I'm just a kickin' and a gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer.

The VH seems like one hell of an amp, but how "800" is it? The closest I came to liking the 800 sound was my Krank Nineteen80, but it was a lot more beefy and low-end heavy.

i don't think i've ever actually tried an 800, let alone side-by-side with the vh100r

IMO I wouldn't say the VH100R sounded like a JCM 800. At least it didn't sound like the vertical inputs that I've owned over the years. To me the VH is much tighter, less middy and more gainy. The 800s I've used also have way more top end.

The VH100R is still pretty 'Marshally' I guess but I wouldn't say it sounds much like an early 800. Still a killer amp and really versatile though. I really dig how it sounded for heavier rock and metal though. Bit too much gain for the kind of blues and classic rock tones I like sadly.
