Ok, tried this before, determined to try again.

Deathcore belongs in the metal forum, set out by many mods as a guideline.
No stupid "deathcore is gay" posts, I will report you. I'm sick of them.
No "take it to hardcore". Deathcore is not hardcore. Nor does it contain any decent elements of hardcore. Breakdowns are not a defining feature of hardcore.

So, let's talk deathcore. If you're a fan of one band (most likely The Faceless, All Shall Perish or The Red Chord) or a sucker for tons (like I am) or even if you just have a soft spot for the gay clichéd ones (BMTH, JFAC, WTC, etc).

Post, my minions, POST!

P.s. Mods, please, I'm trying to keep the spam levels to a min. It belongs here according to the rules, we shouldn't have to wander over to the hardcore forum just to talk about a few bands that a few regs reckon are gay.

edit: Ok, few basic things.

Job For A Cowboy: Doom EP is deathcore. Probably the best example of deathcore ever. Genesis is death metal. Ruination is death metal. I don't care how gay you think they are. They're not deathcore anymore.

Bring Me The Horizon: This Is What The Edge of Your Seat Was Made For is metalcore. Count Your Blessings is deathcore. Suicide Season is metalcore.

The Black Dahlia Murder: Unhallowed and previous demos straddle the metalcore/deathcore line better than Jenna Haze. Miasma is melodic death metal. Nocturnal (and by the looks of things, Deflorate) are melodic death with technical influences. Technical Melodeath maybe? Either way. Not core.

All Shall Perish: Hate, Malice, Revenge is deathcore. The Price of Existence is deathcore. Awaken The Dreamers is deathcore. Stop calling it prog you bunch of idiots. More sweeps and a few clean sections does not equal prog.

The Faceless: Akeldama is technical/progressive deathcore. Planetary Duality is technical/progressive death. No core anymore.

That's all, folks!

Bleed From Within! My favourite of the new crop of Deathcore bands, they may not be doing anything new, but they put on one deadly live show and have some great riffing.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!

Their new album is absolutely killer, their singer has such immenese screams. Also, I really enjoy All Shall Perish, JFAC, Suicide Silence's new album is pretty damn good as well and another good band is Thy Art Is Murder.

Thank you Magero, for making a thread like this.

When I saw them at Day Of The Dead a few months back, ended up standing backstage for their set. New song has a huge breakdown in it, builds up, CJ got up on the foldback, pause;
"I'LL TAKE YOUR FUCKING CUNT!"
*sub drop, breakdown*

So good.

^ That sounds truly epic. I've never actually listened fully to DI.

What albums would you guys recommend to check out?

Ills of Modern Man is brilliant. Quarantine is pretty much the only song that lags a bit.

Good job playing the martyr, Maggie. Got what ya wanted, some people are happy, some are in bitter disapproval. Nonetheless, I find it a good idea, and just may post in here from time to time. I may come off as a "black metal elitist" but I like some deathcore too, believe it or not.

Thank you, Mag, for making this thread and pushing it.

The Red Shore is great.

As are The Faceless and All Shall Perish.

Any recommendations of good Deathcore bands?

I have to admit the first Deathcore band i got into were BMTH and while i still like them, i've moved onto new ones. My favourites being Suicide Silence, Trigger The Bloodshed (they apparently get labeled as Deathcore) and All Shall Perish.

What does everyone think of The Great Depression?

the name is actually ABACRABB now

(also to answer your question, I don't believe it stands for anything, though it might; the band is called just that)

and all the bands in that list are honestly very :/

I don't find ABACABB that good, I mean, I've only listened to the second song on the album, "Infection" and it was alright, but I never want to listen to more.

Though I would recommend
The Red Chord
Whitechapel(first album)
Despised Icon
Beneath The Massacre
Within The Ruins

Has anyone heard of Fit For An Autopsy? Damn son.

I've heard the name, I think one of the members was in Suicide Silence's No Time To Bleed webisodes.
